He knows Richie is far from a bad choice, at least in a case like this. His brother was a dick sometimes, but never to HER. But as much as he’d deny it, he had his own complicated feelings regarding her, feelings that were slightly less than platonic.

At first he doesn’t even respond to that. No, instead he walks away to pour himself a glass of bourbon, takes a long swig, and pretends he doesn’t truly know what dead inside feels like in this very moment. ❝Are you just trying to send me into an early grave? Is that what this is, Kate? You trying to kill me?❞ A deep sigh and another long drink. ❝Mm---and unless you’re talking about mouthwash, can’t help you there, sister.❞

A grin spreads over his face as she sets herself in his lap and he looks at her very seriously, well if you ignore the slightly adoring look easily found in his gaze as well. ❝I think---they’ll be writing news reports about you in no time.❞

He glances at her, slightly amused. ❝Maybe the security cameras don’t catch you, you are the smallest.❞ There’s a grin on his face, ❝ nah---you seem pretty damn dangerous to me. You actually seem to have a knack for this stuff. Who would’ve thought, huh? ❞

the old television blared the same news, over and over –

– as much as she wanted to finish what she started, after being shot in the chest – she knew that she would need to lay low for a bit. of course she could just move away and pretend like nothing happened, but the thought of losing at her own game infuriated her… 

getting drunk in some shitty bar in the middle of nowhere was not exactly ideal – but anything was better than sitting lone in a motel room. she gulped down the rest of her bourbon. the burn couldn’t possibly compare to the pain the bullet wound on her chest was producing. it radiated throughout her body, causing extreme pain.

she slowly got up out of her seat, she needed to get to the restroom so she could fix her bandages up. piper slowly stumbled her way through the people. why exactly did she think that drinking so much was a good idea?

If six months ago, someone had told Seth Gecko that this is where he’d be---frankly, he would’ve laughed in their face. But after the Twister, he had sunk so low, become so lost, and became someone far from who he wanted to be. So when him and Kate parted ways, when he finally moved past the initial sting of his brother no longer needing him, he chose to change, to become someone else entirely.

Which led him here, new last name, bartending at a shitty bar in some no name, shitty ass town. But at least it kept his mind busy, helped keep the demons at bay.

The news had been blaring the same story all morning and afternoon, something about some lunatic slashing up a town. He had done and seen some shit but this seemed to take the cake.

Now, Seth was a pretty perceptive guy. And while it doesn’t initially click in his mind that the woman sitting at the bar was in fact the ‘Lakewood slasher’ in the flesh, he knows what being on the run looked like. When she stands he can see the slightly stained bandages poke out from under her shirt. He walks out from behind the bar, quickly stopping her in her tracks. ❝Hey---I got a first aid kit laying around here somewhere in this shit hole...You look like you could use it.❞
