Hi! Things have been a bit up and down lately but I'm hanging in there! Currently trying to spend more time with the pup while he's still here, working on a few novels and fics and trying to enjoy the summer weather!

Unfortunately I'm in the same boat. I haven't read a lot of new stories in a long time. I get what you mean by "old school" stories. There was definitely a different air to them when the show was still on.

@supernatural-imagine-oneshot hasn't been active in a long time but they have a lot of those older fics that really made me want to write fanfic in the first place.

I believe @holylulusworld is still actively writing too and I've always enjoyed their writing! They do more than just SPN stuff too!

Hey Nonnie! I worry that there are fewer active writers even than when I started, and I've only been here 3 years. But myself personally, I won't ever stop writing for Dean Winchester - I love that man with all my breath and I couldn't stop writing and imagining him if I tried. Lol!

Here is my Masterlist which has tons of Dean Series, One Shots, and Drabbles (along with some Jensen RPF, Soldier Boy and Beau Arlen fics as well. Only have 2 Sam fics at the moment, but I always hope to write more.)

As part of Throwback Thursday with a Bit of a Twist, below the cut, I gush about a few of my go-to authors in no particular order.

@princessmisery666 ~ Stacey is a multi-fandom author with beautiful stories ranging from drabbles to long-chaptered fics. Also an amazing friend. Humor is one of the many things I like about her fics. Even in the angsty pieces, there's is always a nice pop of wit to balance things out, or show the true gravity of the situation. Her master list is filled with gems and has plenty of stories to keep you busy for a while.

A couple of my favorites are: Prank War and One Night, Again. I highly recommend her Jake Seresin fics, too.

@impala-dreamer ~ Another multi-fandom author. Beka has a knack for writing several genres well, but in my opinion, angst is her chef-d'oeuvre. You may not always get a happy ending, but you will still thank her for it.

She also publishes original works. 29 Moments is the first one I read and is still my favorite. I have it in hard copy and digital format.

@justagirlinafandomworld ~ A multi-fandom author who, in my opinion, is the goddess of drabbles and flash fiction. So much emotion is evoked in a minuscule amount of words. Still, there are plenty of one-shots and series to dive into as well on her master list.

I requested each of these during her open requests and was blown away by the direction she took. I am absolutely smitten with them. Bravery in the Depths and 3AM

@wayward-and-worn ~ Thoughtful writing, spot-on characterization, sexy smut, and a cheeky bit of humor. She is my trusted consigliere who smacks me upside the head when my own characterization of Dean strays a bit, and I genuinely appreciate it. Life with Dean (AO3) is a sexy and sweet collection of stories that follow Dean and the reader when he takes a shot at the apple pie life. I go back to it often. A New Kind of Ride (AO3) is hot, hot, hot!!!!!!!

@thinkinghardhardlythinking ~ Saira's stories are love letters. Her list of fics is filled with incredibly written one-shots, but where I think she truly shines are the long chapter AU fics which are detailed, beautifully heartbreaking, yet splendidly heartwarming, and immerse you in the world she's built.

It's difficult for me to pick a favorite amongst her Dean stories, but probably the one I have read the most is Now and Then. My heart breaks for him and no matter how many times I read it, I still cry. 12 Days of Deanmas, has a teeny bit of angst, but turns into a wonderfully fluffy story which was a welcome break from the shutdown. I could go on but check out her master list for yourself. She writes for Sam, too.

@rizlowwritessortof ~ Riz is in my top three of go-to authors for Dean stories. Incredible concepts, great characterization, and Dean gets all the love and comfort he deserves!! Check out her master list.

It's a bit angsty, but If We Don't Make It is so worth the read. Who doesn't love a Cowboy!Dean fic?! Cowboy Rescue is heartwarming and wonderfully written.

@atwistoffate ~ The story concepts are amazing! They run the gamut from hilariously funny to full-on heartbreak. A master list full of well-written and captivating fics.

If you need a good cry, then read Ephemeral and it's follow up Eternal. If you're looking for a really good ugly cry, then read Broken, it's stunning. I've lost count of how many times I've read each of these.
