In the tags and just curious, why did you like Emma M Lyon 6 so much less than 5?
In truth, I am not the target audience for these books. The quirky, Stars Hollow feel of St Crispiens does not appeal to me, so I am bored when the story focuses on things like the scavenger hunt, or the pirate. I am also bored by the reprobates, so books that include more of them get a lower rating from me. I was annoyed almost to the point of DNF-ing the first book for the second time when Aunt Eugenia insisted that Emma italicize words in her head. I like Emma. I like Islington and Hawks, and I'm glad that most of the story has to do with them, or I wouldn't be interested in continuing. I have only gotten through the six books that I have because I spend so much time in the car, and the audiobook narrator is actually really good, which is extremely rare.
I recommend these books to people often because they are objectively good, there are just so many elements that make me roll my eyes.
As I have only listened to the audiobooks, these names may all be spelled wrong lol

"You can't expect every single thing that happened in the book to be included in the movie."
I don't. I never said I did. I'm not actually stupid.
At least 75% of what I'm reading in critical reviews is directly addressed in the book. It is a failure of the adaptation to leave what looks like plot holes all over the place when the tiniest bit of information or exposition would seal them up properly while adding inconsequentially to the runtime.
i am not going to rant about little women 2019 right now but after watching the 90s one it’s like somehow the 2019 costumes have gotten even worse
the gown they put emma watson in literally looks like a party city costume next to trini alvarado’s
look at the detailing on amy’s dress from 1994!! the detailing!! the embroidery!!! the fringes!! the 2019 one is fine but just looks lazy in comparison
fyi (people who actually read books know this), when someone sends you a book rec, that is not a demand to drop everything and read that book right now. it's simply how readers connect and share with people.

“Anne Shirley, I wouldn’t trade you for a dozen boys.”
Incredibly violent take of mine but I actually don’t think you need to relate to a story in any way to enjoy it. You can enjoy a story even if you can’t point at a character and insert some aspect of your personality or identity into them. In fact I would argue the need for a character like that to be present in every single story you experience is a sign of stunted growth.
