Official Post #1: I have always loved books. They take me into another world, and I can escape from reality for a while. I feel like I am apart of the story. Well, they have also helped me with the courage I needed to get out of my childhood nightmare. Let me explain.
When I was around 12, my step mother (my nightmare) placed me in a mental health facility and just left me there. Claimed that I was an aggressive child. Anyone reading this that knows me I think can agree that Iâm not an aggressive person. Well, it was like a vacation for me, so Iâd go along with it so I could escape for a few months. I started reading âA Child Called It.â I realized there was a way out. I started talking. I started spilling it all. Finally, the State of Oklahoma HAD to listen. There was just too much. I finally escaped.
The next time a book changed my life, I read the âBreathing Seriesâ by Rebecca Donovan. I just read it fully last month. It made tons of memories resurface. I realized I donât talk about my past. I hold it in. So here I am. This is me talking.
