It must be exhausting being a vampire and eating someone who gets off to it. I’d take psychic damage too if my lasagna was into vore.

about the 2004 version of poto
i hate how much people invalidate the 2004 movie. the production is amazing, the costumes are PERFECT and the cast is incredibly talented.
gerard as erik was incredible and sensitive and could feel all the pain of abandonment, suffering and anguish the character passed.
and i love how emmy made a beautiful, strong and talented christine and still has the touch of “youthful innocence” as described in the book.
the film is as valid as any of the versions of the musical.
IF YOU CAN’T APPRECIATE THIS MASTERPIECE I’M REALLY SORRY FOR YOU.
question because i’m curious, reblog with if your home town has posts in tumblr search

After watching many different Final Lairs, I’ve come up with a way to categorize Phantoms based on their acting at the end:
Type 1: He’s pretty sad, but he’ll live. Get him a good therapist and he might even be able to get his life together. Someone’s gotta make LND possible, right?
Type 2: He’s grateful for Christine’s kindness, and will live on with the notion that if she could show him love, then perhaps he could learn to love himself.
Type 3: He’s probably gonna die soon, but he’ll be at peace knowing that one person was finally able to treat him with compassion.
Type 4: He’s DYING OF LOVE, DAROGA. This boy’s gonna DIE. Man might not even last till curtain call.
is he… actually thrusting his crotch toward her???

So last night at the stream, @meilas suggested a particular song for our next POTO lyric rewrite. I clicked on the supplied link during the stream and was kind of surprised to find a polka/waltz. My mind, consciously or unconsciously, immediately filled with all sorts of notions about polka music, listeners and performers based on past exposure etc. The stream was wild and fast-paced, so I chose not to listen to the polka at that moment. But because it was suggested by , I listened today. (As I wrote this post, the story gets even stranger/funnier–@meilas just informed me this was not the song intended for me to see!!!! But I will continue with the story anyway!)
Judgements filled my head again during the opening bars…and then the lyric started.
The Starlight Waltz
Walter Ostanek
when did I love you so hundreds of starlight nights ago you held me tenderly
dancing the starlight waltz with me
you were my dreams of bliss you gave my lips a starlight kiss your blue eyes seemed to say
come take me and waltz me away
never were nights so fine never were lips like yours on mine eyes never shined so bright
you danced into my heart that night
starlight and air like wine how would it feel to make you mine we waltzed til break of dawn
and then that sweet starlight was gone
Such beauty in such an unexpected place. A reminder to me not to judge, or to work hard not to judge, anyone or anything based on notions, preconceived or otherwise. To remember that inside of most people, regardless of age, gender, presentation, race, ethnicity–all ultimately meaningless outward manifestations–there are universal desires for love, connection and meaning.
All of us dreaming of beauty, secretly, secretly…
Here’s the wrong and oh so right song itself:

I have no idea how this happened. I don’t even know Starlight Waltz. This is what I meant to send you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecqWggJEsxE

What would you think of Uwe Kröger as Raoul? I think he has the looks (his long blonde hair 🤤) and I feel that his voice would suit Raoul more.
The long blonde hair seems more like a relic of his Elisabeth days; judging by his Instagram, it’s more like... short silver hair now.
I’m honestly not sure if I want Uwe Kroger near any production of any adaptation of Phantom in the near future, especially after this casting (and costuming!) debacle (yes, that as Uwe Kroger as the Persian in the Deborah Sasson version, yes he is wearing a turban, no I do not have any more understanding of this then you do), and the days of him being at his vocal peak are long over, nor do I think he would take on a “lesser” role as Raoul after being the Phantom... but I after all that, I guess I’m willing to give him a chance? I suppose even if he sucks, he won’t be boring, and he has less big songs than the Phantom.
Though all I’m imagining is his Raoul doing this to Christine in the middle of ‘All I Ask of You’. I don’t have the editing capabilities to Photoshop Uwe Kroger’s movements there onto a Raoul, so I did the next best thing: Photoshopped a famous Raoul’s head onto Uwe Kroger’s body:
