Orphanage AU
â} Leo twitched at the orphanâs comment and chuckled a little. The noble world was⌠complicated. There were definitely lords and ladies out there who loved being apart of high society, but he could never get used to it. He always had to keep up a certain air, set an example, in reality that alone would make him crash after a party. Maybe he doesnât have enough mental fortitude to handle being so social.
"Actually, being of the noble class is really strict and I donât have much time to myself. But I can easily solve that by sneaking out, ya know~"
His poor servants.
Leo mindlessly kicked his feet.
Although it made the Baskerville wonder just how Elliot saw the upper class. Its not all about dresses and balls like books make them out to be. A lot of it is business, figuring out who has the greatest benefits to offer through friendship. He didnât like it in the least. He might even prefer the grand balls over constant backstabbing, might.
The boy stopped, his mood suddenly turning just a bit serious.
"They raise nobles to think like that, how everyone can be used. So if you arenât my toy then, what are you?"
Leo was at it again, saying things like this on purpose just to see how Elliot would react.
Why should I care what he thinks?
The nuns came in to usher the children away, pushing the little ones off to bed. There was a constant buzz of people around them and yet it felt like to him as if he and Elliot were the only people really there. The hustle and bustle was simply part of the background noise.
Even so, Iâm really curious. Incredibly curious.
This orphan, always saying things no one else would ever dare utter, especially not in his presence. That was interesting to say the least. Although, if Elliot failed to respond in some way Leo expected of him, the Baskerville would probably give up right then and there. The teen would become just like everyone else and the noirette would lose interest, maybe even never come back. Of course, if he wasnât going to say that out loud.Â
"Seems like youâre stuck with me for today."
The boy got up, brushing off his jacket a bit. He didnât expect the chair would be so dusty, but clearly an orphanage wouldnât have the same kind of attendants heâs used to. It seems like it was time to move on to something else, so Leo simply peered up at Elliot to see where heâd go.
Strict? Well, that was probably true. Although Elliot did think of nobility as a wasteful and snotty lot, he couldn't deny the patience required to learn how to act like one. In Holy Knight, Edwin said himself that his youth was spent being polished into a noble man by his father and many teachers. Still, this high class boy didn't seem like he could pull off manners, fencing or anything else Elliot's favorite character could for that matter.
"Sneaking out? Wait, you didn't do that today, did you?" he slowly let his arms down, squinting at Leo. It couldn't be that easy to do that, right? Elliot thought of the people with crimson cloaks that he identified as either bodyguards or servants. They didn't seem to be that easy to sneak past, unless they weren't actually as good as Elliot had thought at first.
He debated what to choose as his free time activity for today, not minding the noise around him. That is, not until he heard the noble's voice of tone change. Now, Leo had gain something else in Elliot's eyes, rather than being an annoying brat. He was missing something inside of him.
The orphan stood up, closing the piano and turning to the noble again.
"To you, I am Elliot. Nothing added, nothing subtracted. And you are just Leo to me." His face had relaxed a bit- he felt sure of what he had just said.
Elliot now knew what he wanted do for today. "That only says one thing for me, and it's the fact you'll be doing something else than what your posh life usually offers. We're going to the kitchen now."
He walked past Leo and into the hallway, where he arrived at the kitchen located at the end of it. No nuns were there, seeing all of them gathered for a daily pray and recollection meeting, which sometimes lasted well over three hours. It meant Elliot had more than enough time to make anything he wanted. He took out and put on an apron, leaning against the kitchen counter. The boy decided to wait a few minutes and see whether the noble would show up or not.
