I was born very far from where I'm supposed to be, and so I'm on my way home.

Netflix has revealed the initial casting for 'Making a Murderer - The Movie'. Looks like they nailed it...
Among its subscribers were a small legion of user interface and user experience designers — one reason you see little touches of Rdio everywhere you look. It’s there in the blurred album art that you now see in the background of other streaming music services. It’s there in the translucent panes and gradients that Apple introduced with iOS 7. It’s there in the redesigned app for Pandora, the company that ultimately acquired it.
Why Rdio died | The Verge
There were a lot of things Ioved about Rdio but one of them was always it’s design. It was (and still is) always cleaner, more intuitive, and more appealing than any of it’s competitors.

Can someone please turn these paintings into a movie?

This is a screengrab from the Apple website. Interesting to note that they don’t refer to their ads as ‘ads’ or ‘commercials’, instead opting for the elegant ‘Watch the film’ call to action. Small things count.
I also love how I can’t think of a recent Apple commercial that used voice-over or dialogue. One notable exception comes to mind and it happens to be my favorite ad (film?) from last year. And even there it’s not a traditional voice-over. The choice to opt-out of voice-over and dialogue is a brave one, but as evidenced by Apple recent run, it can be incredibly powerful. When all their competition is speaking to tech and specs, Apple is speaking to the heart.
Our experiences are a bigger part of ourselves than our material goods. You can really like your material stuff. You can even think that part of your identity is connected to those things, but nonetheless they remain separate from you. In contrast, your experiences really are part of you. We are the sum total of our experiences.

Love the new ‘Made By You’ campaign from Converse. Worn in Chuck Taylors always look so much cooler than brand new ones anyway.
We've come to accept that there are natural places for commercial breaks; same thing for print. In the digital world, for some strange reason we decided early on to not put advertising in the user's natural activity stream, rather put it around the margins of the page. Essentially, we as an industry need to correct for that.

Kind of cool. I always say, cooler than most politicians, not as cool as actual cool people.
