Would you ever consider a one-shot focused on the past relationships Error was in? Or perhaps at least tell us a little bit about them... I'm very, very interested in his past love life with how low he seems to regard them
Eek I saw this late but okay in my nsfw oneshotsā¦
The thing with this is that Error wasnāt exactly in a solid relationship before Nightmare. Thatās the major difference in his past and his future.
For his mortal lovers, he can hardly remember them. They were at the very start of his Godhood, likely when he was an older teenager, and so he did go after them. However, they were dull. He didnāt like when they touched him and it felt wrong for them to even perceive him in that way with the power imbalance. He didnāt love them, unfortunately. They felt more like pets and that mindset was really uncomfortable for him so he quickly stopped going after mortals as he matured.
Gods, in my content, donāt exactly need sex or romance to exist happily. It all feels so fleeting to them, and itās something thatās regarded more for mortals. While thereās many gods who are in love with one another, itās not structured in their society to find a partner to spend your eternity with. Itās more common to fool around and have flings that COULD go somewhere, but never do. Boredom is prevalent, and most relationships are formed out of curiosity and either end when the Gods get bored, or it ends up forming into something genuine.
Iāve always seen Error as a God who came to be before Nightmare, and they didnāt cross paths at all until Nightmare was finally going up the ranks in power and influence. Because of this, Error had his own flings, especially because Gods were very interested in cracking open his vulnerabilities as The Destroyer. They wanted to see how he ticked because at the end of the day, Gods are constantly searching for something new to entertain them. He was against touch, cruel and sadistic, and was very stand off-ish towards everyone. He was very exciting to try to break down for them.
Error was very aware that this was the case. He knew that the interest people had in him were surface level and hungry curiosity, so he liked to play with them to get some fun out of it. The extent of these affairs were slight sexual endeavors, but they were never allowed to touch Error while they were having sex. Hands would be tied. Error refused to kiss during sex to keep it clear he had no affection for them besides momentary relief. Theyād have one round and Error would call it quits and leave without much comment. In everyday life, he would not kiss them. He would not hold them. He wouldnāt say a single nice thing to them and eventually, pride and ego would take over and Error would be left alone again bc the Gods couldnāt handle his behavior. He was dubbed pretty quickly in the pantheon as a pain to deal with, and so he was back to not being pursued.
If you want specifics, he probably had around two mortal lovers and three Gods that tried to win his affection. So heās not a virgin. Heās experiencedā¦kinda. He doesnāt have anything really passionate and genuinely sweet until Nightmare and so heās definitely inexperienced in handling that which is why he hides for a while after their first time together.
Nightmare was the first to put up with his behavior long enough for Error to actually start to trust him. To share a bed with him, even if they did not have sex. He WAS using Error (they both are aware of that), but he also did genuinely respect him and his way of expressing himself. Nightmare never complained about Error not showing affection, or touch. While he did beg for Errorās attention in the first oneshot, it wasnāt like the motives of Errorās past relations. It came after many years together where they relied upon each other and their mutual respect. The need for power wasnāt what charged their relationship anymore. Nightmare genuinely, wholeheartedly, just wanted Error to love him. Not for selfish reasons. Not for curiosity. He was heartbroken because the idea of never truly getting to be with the person he loved was tearing him apart, and he needed to say something and let Error completely have control over him in that moment to prove he was serious.
Itās why Error felt so guilty and so conflicted. Someone loved him for who he was, despite the hostility he presented, and it was scary. The devotion of showing a soul like that was proof enough for him that Nightmare was enamored with HIM.
Thatās why Error canāt even remember the names of his past lovers. I meanā¦why would he after what Nightmare provided as proof of devotion? They donāt matter to him after that. Kinda why I wouldnāt make a oneshot because if Error doesnāt care enough about them to remember much about them, itās not a story to be told besides through his words when heās with Nightmare.
