"Paternalistic good intent may lead down a different path of ruination. Unfortunately, I feel that is what has befallen the Autobots. Such a thing is especially applicable to the Primes." He shuttered his optics and let out a sigh, He opened them back up and continued, "You know that I feel Primes are unnecessary. Why should we put one mech on a pedestal like that? Could such power not be abused all the more easily? Knowledge and wisdom are but aspects in what’s needed to rule, for others you must also have integrity, humility, and not only that, but the willingness to be a leader alongside your people, rather than just one who commands then."
One servo held the back of Providence’s helm. “I’m ruining this reunion with this factual realist talk of mine. My apologies.” He couldn’t help but smile a bit, just happy to see Providence after so many eons of waiting and wondering. “The game of politics is over with a mech like Starscream in power, but, at the same time, I feel myself still trying to do what’s right for Cybertron in that field.” He kissed the mech once more, leaving his lip plates pressed against the others somewhat longer this time.
"I never once stopped loving you. But, I figured you already knew that."
"You would not be incorrect in making such an assertion, with how they implanted those kill-switch chips in all of the ex-Decepticons. But that was from the entire faction, not at the discretion of a Prime. Optimus has since proven himself to be far better than most others, in that regard." He looked to Thraex, ready to respond to the questions his compatriot posed. "Primes were designed to be our guiding leaders in the place of the Knights who left. It would seem that few of them are up to the task, save for the last. But I agree with you when you say that leadership requires servitude. Whenever I find myself in that position I strive most to emulate that."
Again Providence found himself caught off-guard, and remembered he was never really used to displaying affection. He had yet to find a way to express his reactions to such situations, being unfamiliar with them, but he reciprocated the gesture for as long as Thraex held it, and for him that was enough, for now. He spoke at length soon after.
"What I know, and what I should do with that knowledge, has sometimes been at odds. Ever since I left your cause for Megatron’s, this has been one of them," he said finally. It was a quiet admission, but an honest one.
"Then the Autobots themselves, the system we were once sworn to uphold as Sentinel's own troops, have become the oppressors. As wrong as the Decepticons may have been, as reprehensible as their actions may have been, to go this far..." the former Elite Guardsman shook his helm, "You know I would not condone such a thing. Peace comes about by reconciliation, understanding, and a willingness to try and forgive. I admit, I am speaking somewhat hypocritically due to my views of Megatron but, at the same time, I feel as if the Autobots would just rebuild the same, flawed society as before."
He sighed and looked out a window of his office to Iacon. "My home is in ruins; ruins I wish to see rebuilt in the tenderest of servos, led by a someone who is truly noble at spark, someone truly, truly progressive." He shuttered his optics and rested his helm on Providence's shoulder, "I used to think at one point I could be that mech. But it's become clear that a mech like me shall never be able to lead. Our people tend to gravitate to extremes, leaving those of us who try and tread the center to either fend for ourselves or fall to ruin. They would never accept me."
After taking a deep vent, he nipped at his lover's neck wires. "Providence, is something running through your processors? You seem...distracted. In the past you've always reciprocated the emotion between us. Is something wrong?"
Oh man the days are just getting away from me with all the garbage going on, managed to sketch some scene of Geardust and his big idol Providence! Providence belongs to the super great generation1point5!
Thraex vented and nuzzled his own helm against Providence’s. “You know how I am. You know how I’d like to see a total reconciliation with the two factions. This was always a point of contention I’ve had with the Autobots. They never think of the after effects of their actions. There needs to be a deep, careful analysis of the outcome of what they do…politically and/or militarily, there’s always an effect and it should be considered. Options need to be weighed, if you completely disregard all that and go for some spur of the moment choice, its true costs may never be known until it’s too late.”
"How come you can never be sure of yourself?" He pulled his helm away from Providence’s and pressed his own forehelm against his friend’s. "Is it your optimism, Providence? Because I’ll be honest, sometimes I wished I had your view of the world. You view it with hope, a hope for good even within the worst. I view it through facts and it’s how I base my decisions and my views."
Though at the mention of some new friends, he smiled. “Knowing you, after the war? I’m sure you found the gems within this stone of a city. I wouldn’t mind meeting them one day. Though, for now…” He leaned in, tilting his helm to the side as his lip plates pressed against Providence’s own for a brief moment before slowly pulling away. “Having you back is enough for me.”
Providence let out a silent hiss from his facial plates, a tense exhale, maintaining the embrace. “Some do. Some thought it necessary, and others regretted the paths what they chose. Others stand with their original decisions, and regret none of it. I have seen two with such convictions, and I am inclined to think them as noble in their intentions, and have demonstrated their benevolence in action. From them, I have seen that there are many who are good that act differently, and in the end they both have legitimate results.”
He looked elsewhere, and everywhere he was confronted with the wasteland. “Because there were others like I who saw what they had created as good. Nova Prime was among them, as was Sentinel, and several of the Primes before us. I am unsure of myself because I believe in the same views as you, and know that in all of my good intentions that my methods will not be perfect. Nobody is right 100% of the time. Neither am I, with my own. By doubting myself I hope to cover for these weaknesses, and add to a greater understanding of myself, and our society and world. We have yet to find a good, consistent endpoint on which to fix all of our efforts towards.”
He turned back to face Thraex, prepared to make a response before he felt Thraex press his face against his. Again he was taken aback, and felt himself trapped in stasis. He fought against himself in the maelstrom of feelings and the old flames which ignited his present regrets, his own shame once again bubbling to the surface. He was unsure of what to say, and found that he could say nothing. He accepted it, and pressed back gently, muted. But still there. Silence passed between them after that.
Knowledge and wisdom are but aspects in what's needed to rule, for others you must also have integrity, humility, and not only that, but the willingness to be a leader alongside your people, rather than just one who commands then."
One servo held the back of Providence's helm. "I'm ruining this reunion with this factual realist talk of mine. My apologies." He couldn't help but smile a bit, just happy to see Providence after so many eons of waiting and wondering. "The game of politics is over with a mech like Starscream in power, but, at the same time, I feel myself still trying to do what's right for Cybertron in that field." He kissed the mech once more, leaving his lip plates pressed against the others somewhat longer this time.
"I never once stopped loving you. But, I figured you already knew that."
"You know me as the mech who tries not to hold prejudice, but, at the same time…" He shook his helm, "While I’m glad Megatron has decided to finally take a right path, he’s done so in the wrong way. It would be the equivalent of myself just leaving my own followers. He should have made an attempt to reconcile the Decepticons and cease the fighting that still occurs. Badges or not, Autobots and Decepticons still kill each other. He had the means to put an end to it."
His servo took a firmer grip of Providence’s shoulder, “This is what I liked about you, still do, is that you can look on the brighter side. I look at facts. My facts tell me that Megatron the tyrant may still linger, while I haven’t heard anything bad about him yet, my hopes aren’t high. As for Starscream, I don’t trust him. He’s proven during the war that he’s very much a self absorbed mech. My principles will not permit me to deal with him in a manner suitable his reputation, but, I hold no hope of him being benevolent in any manner of the sort.”
He vented after letting out his charged rant and then took his friend in an embrace. “I’m just glad to have you back. You’ve always been one of my favorites to discuss this sort of thing with anyhow. I’m interested to see if you’ve picked up anything new over the eons.”
"He tried to call for peace," Providence protested, "during the events surrounding his trial. He also had to disavow his movements and its legitimacy, however. The Autobots pressured him into making that move, it was beyond his call. So also, was my conscience when I realized that the ideals I had fought for were buried under the corpses of the dead. Don’t you know? I left my own subordinates. The very troops that I had mentored and trained myself, for combat and for the defense of others. I left them…" the mech said again, lowering his helm. "I felt like I had no choice, and I went into exile." His twin badges glinted in the artificial lighting.
"You are always so sure of yourself…but I can never be that way with myself. We had different opinions, and the same heart. Which one of us can truly be said to be right? You refuse to call me wrong, yet I cannot deny your own virtues…"
He found himself within a tight embrace, and for the moment he was inclined to let it stand, before he slowly reciprocated the gesture, with the same closeness as he was given. “I’ve gained some new insight…but it’s not from myself. I’ve met many others recently. Good mechs, of all backgrounds, motivations, and views on the world. They have been good to me, and I value their input, more than I would my own. I think in the end it’s in Cybertronians like they whom may hold the keys to our prosperity.”
Thraex vented and nuzzled his own helm against Providence's. "You know how I am. You know how I'd like to see a total reconciliation with the two factions. This was always a point of contention I've had with the Autobots. They never think of the after effects of their actions. There needs to be a deep, careful analysis of the outcome of what they do...politically and/or militarily, there's always an effect and it should be considered. He leaned in, tilting his helm to the side as his lip plates pressed against Providence's own for a brief moment before slowly pulling away. "Having you back is enough for me."
"No, I could never agree with a choice like Starscream." He shook his helm, "His actions during the war proved him to be a treacherous parasite. He will do anything to further his own ends, I wouldn’t put him past assassinations. While I doubt he’d stoop to the level of the Functionalists, I can see him being far more tyrannical."
He placed a servo on the other mech’s shoulder. “You…don’t remember what I told you those eons ago, do you?” He vented quietly, shuttering his optics as he recollected the moment. “No matter how I try to convince you, you are still a noble mech at spark. You have made your decision, and I cannot alter it. But, no matter what happens next, I know you will still carry your morals with you. If the gladiator of Kaon does prove to be opposite of what he says, I know you’ll leave him. When that solar cycle comes, I’ll be anxiously waiting to hold you in my arms again.”
He opened his optics again, welled with tears of optic fluid. “Primus, I didn’t think it’d be after everything was said and done with. I…almost lost hope., but I never did give up on the chance that I might see you again.”
"He is ambitious," Providence conceded, "but not necessarily malevolent. Starscream thirsts and burns for distinction; and, if possible, he will have it, whether at the expense of emancipating slaves, or enslaving freemen." He shifted his gaze towards the outside again. "So long as it gives him what he wants, he will serve the people. I am done with fighting on my own initiative. I do not wish to continue the warfare that has ceaselessly plagued our people. Starscream has accept the terms of his end of the social contract. I intend to hold my end of the contract as well, for now…"
When he said this he spoke half towards himself, and he looked up at Thraex when he felt his shoulder being touched. He listened to what Thraex had to say, and he fell silent. “You think Megatron some sort of monster. So did I, when I left. But then he turned back and followed my own journey, I imagine. He did this of his own initiative, and now he wanders the stars for true judgment. I believe his intentions to be pure, what he declares, genuine.”
He looked up to his friend, not knowing how to respond across a distance of unsaid experiences and untold suffering. He had built a wall up to move on behind him, and the dam for him would not break so easily. He could only stare, and feel ashamed. He broke off optic contact. ”But we’re here, and alright… and I am glad that you are here with me,” he said finally. The only thing he had left was the genuineness in his voice.
"You know me as the mech who tries not to hold prejudice, but, at the same time..." He shook his helm, "While I'm glad Megatron has decided to finally take a right path, he's done so in the wrong way. It would be the equivalent of myself just leaving my own followers. He should have made an attempt to reconcile the Decepticons and cease the fighting that still occurs. Badges or not, Autobots and Decepticons still kill each other. Primus, he’s alive. It’s a miracle.
"Providence…" he paused, surprised to think that he would be turned away. "What reason would I have not to help you? You should know more than anyone on Cybertron that I’d never turn someone away, well, except maybe Megatron." He walked over to his old friend and extended a servo.
"Come on, I’ll show you what my faction has been doing since the war ended. It’s the last we can do. Now that we basically have another despot in charge."
"You know my past with that figure," the guardian replied simply, taking Thraex’s servo and grasping it firmly as he found help to get on his feet. He hesitated saying anything more, until Thraex mentioned Starscream and his own side in the war. "I am relieved, at any rate, to find myself in hospitable circumstances," he said finally with a brief bow. "Your graciousness is admirable, as always."
"You should expect that." He started to lead Providence through the facility. "My faction lost its political purpose after Megatron decided to take the path of war. Now that it’s over, my mecha just do the best we can providing aid and comfort. Iacon is my home, has been since I was forged. I’m looking forward to seeing my city and our people in some form of happiness again."
They strode through the base, the first floor was mainly residential suites he led the other mech to an elevator that began to ascend from the top floor. “You know more than anyone how much I wished to avoid this. How I wanted a peaceful transition. Now that…Starscream had to come into the picture, take advantage of the power vacuum.”
Once on the top floor, he led Providence to his office and offered him a seat. It was a rather modest in an arrangement. He opened a cooler in the room and withdrew a canister of chilled energon, pouring a glass for them both and bringing one to his friend. After that, he took the seat next to him, rather than behind the desk. “By Primus, I’m just glad to see you alive.”
"Your efforts will surely pay off," Providence replied as he glanced around the facility, noting its organizational structure and its administration. When they arrived at the elevator he looked outside, staring ahead at the desolation before him. "Technically we have peace. Justice is another matter. Some would say that Starscream is good enough. I doubt such standards apply to you."
At Thraex’s request he sat down, and took a small sip out of respect for his counterpart’s hospitality. He relaxed against the seat of the chair, but said nothing for some time, trying to find a way to compose his words. “I had thought you had died in the war. I had lost contact with you after we chose our respective sides. I won’t bother you with tales of my regret.”
He set down the glass and stared at the floor. ”You probably know of it well enough.”
"No, I could never agree with a choice like Starscream." He shook his helm, "His actions during the war proved him to be a treacherous parasite. He will do anything to further his own ends, I wouldn't put him past assassinations. While I doubt he'd stoop to the level of the Functionalists, I can see him being far more tyrannical."

There was another ping on his comm channel; even after the war there was no rest for a leader of his responsibility. “Go ahead.” His emerald optics cycled wide, “What? What do you mean my audience with Starscream was denied?” After a moment he pinched the bridge of his nose. “Typical of despots. Return to the med center, we need every servo we can manage.”
He vented and noticed a mech sitting nearby. His frame seemed too…familiar. Thraex’s spark raced at the thought that it may have been him, the mech he thought lost to the eons.
Could it be…no. Maybe?
"Providence?"
He did not immediately respond when he heard his name called. He did not give out his name and he knew he was not known around these parts. The conclusion he both hoped and wished to avoid turned out to be true. He refused to meet Thraex’s gaze, but he spoke at length to, at the very least, confirm their identities and state his request. He could muster nothing more than that.
"It has been some time, Thraex. I am looking for some energon, and a berth to recharge on, if you would have me."
Primus, he's alive. It's a miracle.
"Providence..." he paused, surprised to think that he would be turned away. "What reason would I have not to help you? You should know more than anyone on Cybertron that I'd never turn someone away, well, except maybe Megatron." He walked over to his old friend and extended a servo.

Inside the medical center there was plenty of activity, though not all of the mechs there were wounded, it seemed to be part medical center, part shelter. The mecha of the staff all had a common emblem of a white trident on a black field adorning their arms. While all of them were still armed to a light degree, they all seemed relatively at peace. Providence could even tell from faded paint that these trident bearing mecha were all either Autobots or Decepticons at one point.
A large mech strode through the hall on his comlink while a shorter femme walked beside him; the mech was busy on a datapad at the same time. “You have the energon? Excellent, bring it back here as quick as you can. We’re going to need it.” He cut the comms and looked smiled at the datapad, “Good, good, I’m glad their stable.” He handed the datapad back to the femme, “Keep me informed on their condition.”
The former Elite Guardsman stopped at the front desk as the femme walked on, venting in relief that he had a moment to himself. The work was arduous but well worth it in a post war world.
By this point in time Providence had not taken notice of the emblems emblazoned on all of the staff members; his gaze still remained introspective, and he was only dimly aware of the movement around him, or even the seat which he took in the lobby around a few other waiting for treatment. He noted the light armament of the staff, but and hoped that others would not misinterpret the weapons installed on his own frame as an intent to cause harm, as some others did.
It was then he heard the voice of a familiar companion, memories of millennia ago brought to surface in the depths of a war-ridden memory. He had thought Thraex had died, never to be seen again. He thought it his processor playing tricks on him, misinterpreting it as a Cybertronian who had a similar voice, and nothing more. Thraex was not a medic.
Or perhaps he was merely afraid of what he would have to say if Thraex turned out to be alive.
He sat still, his upper torso still leaning forward and his elbows resting on his knees, and said nothing.
There was another ping on his comm channel; even after the war there was no rest for a leader of his responsibility. "Go ahead." His emerald optics cycled wide, "What? What do you mean my audience with Starscream was denied?" After a moment he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Typical of despots. Return to the med center, we need every servo we can manage."

"Providence?"

Providence knew not where he had wandered to. The city as he remembered it was long gone, replaced by new construction and the husks of chronic, bitter memories. When he wandered the streets he had no particular direction in mind, only that he intended to keep the peace. For now he had no work to do; the night was still, if not almost peaceful. If it were fully so, Providence would not find in him the restlessness that drove him to move around so often. When he looked up he found himself on an empty street, with a few neon lights surrounding him. The symbols of a medical center stood before him, and he took the initiative to perform a systems check.
He was well into his essential reserves, having stayed operational for many nights without recharge. His weapon reserves were high, and he could always divert those tanks into his main systems should he need them, but it would hamper his capacity to accomplish the task he set out on these patrols to start with. With that in mind he decided to venture in and ask for food, and shelter.
((A potential color scheme for Tachak, Thraex's bondmate. Kind of looks like a comet))
Since Dreadwing was done, I figured why not Skyquake?
While not perfect or an exact match to his look in Prime, I managed to make a pretty close look to that of Dreadwing. It’s a pretty awesome look for something limited by the game’s color schemes.
Better off that it’s the F22 that fits him in terms of color scheme rather than the F35.
I have returned!
So basically due to work I’m going to be traveling again for a little bit. Gong to be away from the computer starting this afternoon but I’ll be back tomorrow afternoon. I’ll still be monitoring tumblr through mobile.
((Also throwing up OOC status here))
Vyx’s approximate paint scheme from Cybertron. Back when her alt form was that of a forward swept wing fighter. Like her twin brother (who still had a delta wing configuration on Cybertron) the two were inseparable. The two had matching color schemes of black, white, and Decepticon Purple. She maintained the color scheme, even with her BF109TL alt mode until 1962 when she switched to the black tulip scheme seen on Erich Hartmann’s BF109 G6.
The femme has since adapted to her new alt mode, allowing her to be as lethally efficient in it as she was in her old Cybertronian form.
