Airheaded S/O Headcannons #9: Hiei (Yu Yu Hakusho)

He wants you dead at first

But that's just because he's a bit standoffish

You'd waltzed in right as he had Yusuke suspended in his clutches at a warehouse.

"Yusuke, you left your calc homework on your desk, you ditz!"

And then you looked up and saw the three eyed demon and your friend.

And he was a little shocked that a human had found his hideout, even with his manipulated spirit energy.

"Kinda in the middle of something here," the greasy haired boy responded.

"Well cut that out for a second. I've got places to be."

Like you weren't just witnessing him about to be killed

It was so baffling how you just completely dismissed the situation, that Hiei's powers actually faltered and let the detective get away.

What the actual hell????

"Get out of here, now!" Yusuke warned.

And you'd just frowned

"Dude, it's not that deep. Why are you even here?"

Now was Hiei's chance to attack

But when he disappeared and quickly reappeared behind with his sword raised, you just caught the blade and glared at him

"Can you back off, I'm trying to talk to my friend."

You shooed him away like a pest.

And that was the moment he decided he wanted you dead.

A strong believer in survival of the fittest

And what the hell, because you had not a single working brain cell but were somehow stronger than him????

Kuwabara is your best friend and the two of you combined are stupid²

And it's horrible because there's only so much stupidity Hiei can take.

During the time he's still conforming after being caught, he spends most of it in the human world scouting you out for any weaknesses.

He still holds a grudge from the first time you met

But he's so damn surprised to find out that you're a walking hazard

How does one leave the stove, microwave, and oven on?

How does one forget that they're all on at the same time????

It would be so easy to let your own recklessness kill you

But his damn pride won't let that happen because he wants to be the one that defeats you

So, you wake up from your nap to see all your appliances turned off

Which is surprising because you vaguely remember cooking something before you feel asleep.

You do earn his respect eventually

It's when Yusuke is tasked with defeating the Saint Beasts

All of you were struggling to keep the roof up from collapsing

Yusuke had suggested Hiei be the one to pull the lever because he was the fastest.

And you'd said something then. Something that made him not want to kill you anymore.

"I might be able to hold the whole thing by myself. You all have to be really fast though."

"Are you crazy?!? There's no way we're gonna leave you behind. We're in this together or not at all," the oaf had protested.

You gave a dopey smile and released all your spirit energy at once, lifting the ceiling with all your might and alleviating the pressure from all the others.

"You scared, Kuwabara? People die everyday. What's one more?"

Hiei had never moved as fast as he did when he pulled that lever down.

You were a fool for risking your life over the others.

A fool for wasting your power on the weak.

But you weren't scared of death, of dying for your morals

And that had his respect.

It's because you can sense spirit energy a little better than he can.

That and if he's spotted, he can just pass it off as you dragging him along to see Kuwabara.

And maybe he's a little grateful you don't question him about it.

You just go along with it because 'We're friends.'

You're so stupid for trusting him that easily when he wanted so badly to kill you not long ago

So unbelievably stupid for following around a demon just cuz

You were a trustworthy ally during the Dark Tournament, a strong warrior during the battle with Sensui, and a true fighter during the demon tournament.

It's the last event that he realizes he values you a little more than he should.

He had just barely beaten Mukuro and was set to fight you next.

The thing was, Hiei could barley stand with his injuries, while you hadn't broken a sweat.

This was the one fight he looked forward to the most, besides the one he wanted with the spirit detective.

But there was this look on your face

An uncomfortable yet sorrowful look.

Why weren't you as excited as he was?

He shrugged the feeling off as the announcer told them to begin.

His sword was long destroyed, so he resorted to basic combat skills instead.

He lunged, fist clenched to hit, but you just dodged with that same look

He tried again and the result was the same

You didn't even try to block his attacks, just moved out of the way.

Like he was beneath you to even try.

He recognized the look now

It was pity

And that infuriated him.

"Why won't you fight back!" A kick aimed for your side.

"You think you're so-called friendship matters here? Your emotions mean nothing. Not in here. So quit acting like a fool and fight!" A punch aimed at your throat.

You stopped it this time, but didn't attack him back.

You were making a fool out of him.

And before he could berate you again, you spoke.

"I don't care if we're friends or not. Either way, the fight still isn't fair."

And that had temporarily halted his anger.

"What do I gain from beating someone so injured, they can't stand up? What do you gain from fighting when you have no power? Think about it."

You didn't want to fight because you wouldn't enjoy it?

It wouldn't be a win for you

"It's not fair to either of us if we fight like this. We'd never get to find out who's really stronger."

Hiei was the fool.

He'd lashed out at Mukuro for letting her feelings get in the way and here he was, doing the same.

Letting his pride get in the way of rational thought

He'd been the one to get upset that you weren't fighting him as an equal, when the condition he was in clearly said otherwise.

"I know you don't want to lose the tournament, so I quit. But I want you to heal up and get stronger. Don't die because next time I see you, I'll kick your ass the way you want. Got it?"

You and that oaf shared the same moral code.

But something about it being you made him tolerate it.

"...I surrender. I'm in no shape to continue. Y/n, you better not hold back next time."

Much to the dismay of the audience, the two of you walked back together. The outcome of the match: no winner.

There was something for him to look forward to now. A new goal.

He'd surpass you and then Yusuke.

Following the events of the demon tournament, he's a little softer towards you.

You and that stupid human heart of yours had him observing you from the trees.

He was unused to the heaviness he felt seeing you visit Yukina and making her laugh.

He couldn't understand the warmth consuming his face when you would fight a stray demon and win.

He didn't know why he used his Jagan to see you while he was in demon world.

But he did know he didn't like seeing you and the idiot duo hanging off of each other, cackling at something one of them said.

Don't count on him acting on his feelings.

He would never tell you.

But his actions towards you are more than enough to let the others know you're his.

He calls you fool(derogatory) and if he's feeling sweet, just by your name.

Jealousy is a big one.

Hiei's never had something special he's been allowed to keep.

So if you're spending a little too much time with Kuwabara, don't be surprised to see him at your window the next day.

He'll deny to his dying breath that he came all the way from demon world just to see you.

He'll also deny leaving some of his own clothing or even his sword at your house just so it smells more like him than it does your (just as stupid) best friend.

Hiei leaves for months at a time and without fail, will always come back the day after you went crying to Kurama that you think he's died.

(Thanks to his Jagan that is. There isn't a day he doesn't check up on you so he's bound to know when you miss him.)

Kurama is his best friend, but that doesn't stop Hiei from getting upset when he comes to get you and sees you sound asleep on the fox's bed.

You just smell so much like the other demon now, it pisses him off.

"Keep your scent off my human."

And Kurama finds immense joy in his childish anger.

"Maybe if you would physically see them more, they wouldn't come by so often."

And Hiei's grumbling as he picks you up, still dead asleep, to bring you back to the home that would restore his own scent back on you.

The time spent when you wake up is for sparring.

He can't find it in him anymore to fight you for real

But that doesn't mean he won't enjoy the false matches you have with each other.

He refuses to take you with him to demon world.

You have a life here

And though it's tempting to take you where you wouldn't be very far away from him, he knows you wouldn't be happy away from everyone else.

So, the one and only thing he does that hints at his feelings for you is give you the makeshift necklace made from hiruiseki stone. His to be exact.

"Take it."

"Why?" Your small little brain was struggling to figure out why he would want you to have it.

"It represents a promise. A promise that I'll be back for you no matter what. So take care of it for me, human."

Yoru was on his way to the enemy's side as he was already eaten by his rage..

He was in rage due to the fact that you were kidnap by the kingdom..and all that got in his ways die in a very cruel yet fast way of dying...

~FLASH BACK~~

"what are you doing?!" Unknown voice

Knowing that voice, Yoru only chill himself more due to the fact that he likes being scold by the person he likes and love the most, but of course you yourself had no idea or any clue of his feeling because you were that dense.. and everyone knows about his feelings towards you ... Yoru's behavior only changes when you were around ..'

You were just a simple second in command to Brimstone and the caretaker of the valorant protocol team, you weren't an agent due to the fact the you were forbidden by you father, Brimstone (yep don't be surprised, we will always be your father)

But you were very incredible and smart, which was one of your greatest advantage being a non-radiant user, but sadly you weren't even allowed to carry or touch a gun..

You only observe everyone on their training and discuss all their flawns and mistake which eventually they correct due to your strict teaching..

You always rant on Sage how you wish you could become an agent to of course help everyone on their mission but they just laugh at your cute rant behavior which doesn't really help you much ..

"come on, you have training!!" You said

He still ignores you..

You were very aware of this kind of behavior from him, everysince you take care of him from the moment he arrives and welcome from the valorant protocol and to where he always get all the worst wounds from every mission he gets..

Which you sometimes wonder why the hell he always beat himself up on the battlefield..but on Yoru's side he just like being treated by you.. seeing how serious and cute you were when you get worried about him getting beat up on the battlefield..

He adore you so much, that he can't even take his eyes of you anymore and very possesive when you get close to other male agents even though your just trying to help others but of course he didn't scold you or anything he scold the male agent that gets your attention ..heck he even gets jealous on your father when you two talk...

But before shit happens the two of you just had the most unforgettable moment ...it was the moment where Yoru actually kidnap you to see the sunset outside of HQ which afterwards was scold by Sage, Viper and Brimstone of course...

"I didn't know that sunset can be this quiet beautiful" you smile looking at the sun

"yeah it is beautiful" Yoru said as he looks into you

"yeah" he reply to you

"what if one day I died?" You said out of nowhere

Yoru was on the enemy's quarter as he killed all of the enemy not a soul will be found not an enemy spared...and he found you... He stop with a shock on his face

as he saw you seated on a chair, full of bruise and bloodstains are over your body as traces of torture seen in your body ..

"what have they done to you" he said as he tremble in rage

"h-hey i-idiot" as you try to lighten the mood

He untie you and put out his jacket and cover you then carried you bridal style

"where is Sage" he said in his comm

You smile knowing things will be alright

"N-now I understand how dangerous your work is, no wonder you have so many bruises on your battlefield but now I'm the one who's full of bruise, hahaha" you said still trying to lighten the mood

So It's been a while since I write, Been Very busy but please enjoy...

You being one of the most dangerous, naughty and somewhat aggressive agent when it comes to the battlefield but opposite when it come to the base...

You didn't like being with a company so most of the time you were alone.... You only hangout with specific people like Sage, Reyna and in some other agents' surprised you were very close to Phoenix....

You didn't actually bother hanging out with your sister Skye because she likes to hangout more with her animal than you, you didn't hate each other to the point of avoiding each other it just happens to be that you two didn't like each other's habit or somewhat never been on the same page of anything...

As you walkthrough the hall of the headquarters, you saw Skye petting her Tasmanian, her bird and somewhat jellyfish on the garden..

You just stare and observe her, your mind wonder, why the two of you aren't close when the two of you are sister...

"what's the point?" You tell to yourself then walkaway from where you are and gone somewhere else ..

You wonder around and ended up being in a place where you were not surprised at all, the training ground...

" why did I just ended up here?" You tell to yourself but still gone and train yourself ..

As you prepare yourself to train, you stop your track due to an interruption

"you're the most strongest agent here and you train on your day off?"

You look who was that, then sigh

"It's only you, Yoru, do you need something?" You said as you look at the gun you were holding

As everyone observe your behavior, they all think that you were having trouble with something but seeing your reaction they all know what it mean

"I'll choose Chamber, Yoru, Astra and..." You stop

With that the meetting proceed and you on the otherhand thought deeply during it all..

You look at your sister, worried as Yoru and Skye chat themself.. you walk closer to the two..

Yoru take a note on your rudeness but didn’t have the guts to point it out or scold you, but instead nod as an agreement to talk to you privately which you think he just agree to you since you are leading the team..

Skye just wave to Yoru and give out a thumbs up cheering him to something which you thought they were saying something bad behind your back for a while like “goodluck talking to an evil witch”

You just ignore the thought of that, and talk to Yoru privately…

Being you as always, you didn’t beat around the bush..

“I’ll do all the entry on attacking the site, I want you and Skye to focus on planting the site, I want you specifically Protect Skye at all times..” you said on a deadly serious tone..

“W-what?!” He said in a loud tone, taking the team’s attention

“Just focus on Skye” You said on a yell whisper type so that only you and Yoru can her the conversation

“You know for someone who’s rude to your sister, your very protective” Yoru said in a tease tone

You walk away from him and take the team’s attention for your last instruction..

The mission ends to a success, but this time, you were critical due to the fact that you ignore or literally avoided your sister’s heal during the mission, you keep being stubborn and telling them that she could reserve it for others since it has limited time of use (per round)…

You walk your way to the infirmary and without anyone’s help, you just ignore everyone and even though it was painful, you walk straight without a pain trace on your face..

Yoru couldn’t take it anymore and carry you bridal style without your permission.. You were shocked at his sudden action but couldn’t argue or complain due to the fact that it was painful and you are almost out of strength..

“Why are you so stubborn, Y/N” Yoru said looking straight on the way to the infirmary

“…” you were quiet due to the fact that you are losing every ounce of energy “shut up” that was all you could say before everything turn black

~~~~ Days past ~~~~

Since it was a success mission Brimstone has given you a day off, you gladly accept and rather than relaxing you used it to train yourself, it was weird but it wasn’t suprising to everyone…

“You know day off is supposed to be relaxing” a familiar voice

“And what it is that you want now?” you said to him

“Oh come on don’t be to hard on yourself” He said

“You been around me lately, so what’s the catch Yoru? If you didn’t carry me that day, I wouldn’t be….” You stop “Nevermind” you continue as you train yourself again

Being a stubborn and boastful Yoru can be, he carried you bridal style and use his ultimate to take you away, you were shock that you didn’t react..

“W-what the hell rift walker!! Where the hell are you taking me?! Put me down idiot!!” You said in an authorative and scary tone

He didn’t listen to you as he keep running through dimension as you runt all the way..you didn’t notice where he brought you, and before you knew it… you are now on Tokyo Japan..

He put you down at the top building where you see beautiful lights of the city of japan..You were speechless and amaze to the beauty of the lights of the busy crowds of Tokyo…

As Yoru observe your reaction, he was amazed at you…..Your eyes sparkle and you look so beautiful in his eyes, you were like a child being able to see a beautiful scenery and it was new to him…. Specially when he always see you as a serious and distant person you were at the headquater…

It was his first, Yoru didn’t want to be near you, you were a very killjoy type of person and he also knew he has no match to you, in short you were very intimidating to him…

“So why?” You said cutting his train of thought

“I don’t know, seeing you how you care for your sister, I don’t know, I wanted to know you a little bit” he said as he look at the street..

You look at him suspiciously “If this is your way of going to ask permission of my sister’s hand for dating, I’ll give you points but hurt her, I’ll break your neck or worst it will be the death of you” You said in a threatening voice

“What?, I mean you two are close right, I always see you going to the garden with her the other week” You said looking at him emotionless

I didn’t know why but I was feeling intiminated by you… and that was the first reason why I started observing and researching about you, then our first mission together came as a 5-man duelist, man you were aggressive more than I was expecting, and I try to outrun you, I ended up getting myself into trouble and you save me leaving you on the top frag but critical due my lacking” he laugh

“That was the time I fell head over heels to you, I been like a stalker around you but from a far due to the fact that you have high senses” He continues, this time you look back at the scenery, trying to remember what he was saying

“I can even say I know everything about you, and irritates me when you act tough when your not, I hate it when you hesitates on things, why is that?” He ask

You didn’t even react… you didn’t know how to.. It was your first confession from a guy and it was from unexpected guy

and knowing yourself, you didn’t even think someone would actually like you…

Now you look at him, surprise at what he said… and now he looks at you giving you a very charming yet gentle smile, which gives you a bit chill

“Don’t make that face Y/N, I might kiss you” He said looking away with a red tint on his face, you were off guard this time from his comment…

You were clueless on your reaction but Yoru will always picture it forever, as he look away from you…remembering, as she bites her lower lips from Yoru’s sudden smile… which surprises him more

‘Damn it’ he whisper from himself

“So why Tokyo?” You changing the topic

“And why did you hang out with skye if you like me” you said after you change the topic

“Don’t playboy with me, you don’t have to force yourself liking me, I approve you and skye, So let’s go back to the headquarter” You said

Yoru was confuse to the things had happen, did he said something wrong? Where did he do wrong, he asked himself those questions

“If you’re not taking me back to HQ then I’ll be leaving and try to figure something else” you said walking away from him

You felt a tug on your wrist, you stop at a sudden pull, and before you knew it, you felt a warm soft lips on your lips

Title: Experiment Part 2

You didn't sleep that night, in other words you couldn't sleep, you just couldn't and what you did on that sleepless time was come up with a plan to earn the radiant boy to agree on your experiment...

Next day~~

You greet him a good morning on his room with a tray of food, yes you're first attempt was a breakfast in bed type of deal..

He was surprised of course but didn't fuss about it cause he was expecting you to be doing something but not this early.. and Yoru though that you were very desperate to want him so bad on a shitty experiment..

"not bad, kid" he tells you as you walk pass him and put his tray of food on his bed

"you're welcome good sir, for it is my precious project" you tell him and smile then walk to the door as he observe you walk out the door

"if you need anything, I'll be here" you tell him

"well I think you plan this out, quiet well" Yoru said

"well I was serious, and I'm going to earn you" you said as you smile confidently

Yoru didn't expect that kind of aura from you.. and what he didn't expect more was the feeling of his stomach as you smile at him like that .. as if you wanted him that bad..

You went out as you give Yoru his own privacy.. ot was early and all you could think was what to do next...

The next thing was you help him out on his training... Help him on his strategy traning, even have a bet of who is the best to aim bots..

"is that all you can do kid?!" Yoru as he missed only 2 bots

You only pout as an answer, you were smart but didn't have much of a good aim..

and of course the slave-game Yoru likes the most, you did all his request and command for a week, some of them, was to compliment him on everything he does which he know you hated the most since you hate his guts for belittling non-radiant agents... Also one of the most unforgettable was do shopping with him but of course you carrying his groceries.. and many more..

As the end comes, you were exhausted but happy and excited since the week of earning Yoru will end and your precious experiment will be coming to life... it was going to happen after the next mission you will be sharing with him this upcoming end of the week...

You been pestering Yoru for a while now, but it's not because you like him or anything, it's just happen to be that the experiment that you been working on is needed a test radiant subject, and Yoru was the perfect candidate for you're experiment..

Yoru has a great experience going through different dimension and you think he can go through it.. But of course Yoru keep declining your offers to him .. So in the end you think of another test subject, but yet again no one is perfect to your experiment than Yoru...

You tried asking Kay-O but he isn't compatible and Killjoy might kill you if you ended up messing up Kay-O, Phoenix was actually on the Go but he is a very dear person to you... You afraid things might end bad..

You were now very exhausted thinking of what to do next since everything was not going into places and you were starting to give up on the experiment ...

"I should give it up then" you tell to yourself staring at the laboratory's ceiling..

"Am I really the only qualify to do that stupid experiment of yours?!" A unknown voice

You jump on the unknown voice and look at that person ... Your eyes widen that you saw Yoru standing on the front door of the laboratory

You were actually waiting for him to laugh at you as he was holding your arm and jaw up to look to him..

"I'll give you a week to earn me before you give up on this shitty project you been doing" he said then let you go

You were still in shock as he pat your head and leave the room .. you didn't couldn't process everything after what had happened but in your heart you were happy .. and Hope that things will be fine..

You smile like and idiot after his shadow or a trace of him was gone then you celebrate yourself as you knew you had a chance..
