You are not immune to mob mentality. You are not immune to being riled up enough to either commit violence or justify it happening. There is always something that a person can say to you to make you think, "Yeah, maybe that person does deserve to be violently murdered by a mob." No matter how strong you think your morals are, no matter how justified you think your anger is, no matter how correct you think you are, you are not immune to becoming part of a lynch mob.
You have to be consistently against mob justice NO MATTER WHAT. Otherwise, there will always be a way for someone to convince you that murder, and other acts of violence enacted by mobs like rape and mutilation, is okay. There cannot be a single person in this world that you would allow to be killed by an angry mob or else you will find a way to justify it happening to anyone. End of statement.
And just for the record, many of the people who would happily reblog this have posts cheering for the kidnapping, rape, and murder of people for their ethnicity and nationality. You are not only part of the problem, you are actively contributing to the rising violence and mob mentality that is killing your neighbors.
something I haven’t seen mentioned much is Dolly being childfree. We have so few lauded childfree women in positions of power. The connotation of childless women as selfish, cold, and cruel…and Dolly was the complete opposite and gave so much to underprivileged youth…she was and will always be a beacon for independent women, who live and love on their own terms. And she never had children…she said we were all her kids instead…

the amount of posts ive seen recently on my dash that uncritically parrot the myth that "trans womens brains are closer to cis women than cis men" as if that is in any way a progressive take is egregious. the idea that womens brains are different to begin with is scientifically unsound and rooted in misogyny, specifically the idea that women think differently and are less capable of logic and rationale while being more emotional. and you absolute idiots are taking this completely uncritically and going "yeah this is true women actually are more stupid. trans women included <3" just stop posting

I think it's very fucking weird how often Asian foods (matcha, soy marinated eggs, tofu, etc) become trends for white people online and then people react to those trends by claiming that no one actually likes those foods and are just pretending for the trend. "Nobody actually likes matcha." Okay, tell that to the Chinese and Japanese people who have been drinking it for nearly 1000 years. "Does anyone even EAT tofu or are we all just faking it??" I don't think Asian people have been faking eating tofu for the last 2000 years but okay.
And that's not even getting into the "weird food" trend. If you're going into Asian markets or grocery stores to be weirded out by standard foods and ingredients like chicken feet, then you're just being really fucking racist.
Can we all just like. Be fucking normal about Asian food?? For once???
Also the way that white creators online can just be making and trying foods from other cultures, without ever claiming to invent them, and being as respectful as possible only for people to credit them with creating those foods is just embarassing. "Courtney Cook's viral marinated eggs!!" You mean the food that East Asian people have been eating for ages every day and that is even a standard part of any ramen restaurant menu?? You're crediting that to the white woman who never claimed to invent them??? You're EMBARRASSING.

also, gently, this is part of the reason young people don’t have community. the much larger reason obviously is the infrastructure of our world now, but AN issue is that younger people seem less adept at and willing to be genuinely friendly with people they don’t like. true community does mean warmth with people you don’t particularly care for. this is not manipulation.
As a functioning member of society, it's just a fact of life you will, at some point, have to interact with people you wouldn't be likely to spend your down time with. People you don't like, people whose views you may disagree with profoundly. Sometimes you just have to be a damn adult and treat people with civility and cordiality.

I’m tired of the narrative that queer art with transgressive, complicated characters is only acceptable because the state of the world was so bad in the 70s or 80s, like “sure it’s not good by today’s standards but that’s all we had!”

Sometimes you don’t want squeaky clean, buttoned up inspirational “representation”. Sometimes you want to get a little fucked up! Sometimes you want a psychosexual horror where a transexual alien that defies your norms and understanding shakes-a-you-up and forces you to confront what it’s possible for you to be or want, where fear and revulsion and desire and your very sense of self are violently beat together, leaving you forever changed. That’s as true in 2026 as it was in 1973, and I fear we have lost that understanding which used to be practically instinctual for queers.
Queer people should make queer art irrespective of whether the queer characters in it are “good representation” or everything in it would be okay to happen if it were real life.
That’s not “problematic”. That’s fiction.
If you’re asking whether Frank-N-Furter is “good representation”, you fundamentally misunderstand Rocky Horror; you are trying to force Frank to fulfill a role he fundamentally does not exist to fulfill, and putting Rocky Horror in a box it exists to transcend.
We need to stop limiting what queer art is and can be.
