Tuesday night figures
Sesame ate a mouse once....
Chicken stuff...
Baby Pancake and Pepper.
I really got into oils this year. It’s a wonderful medium! I hope to do some large chicken oil paintings one day.
Some still life paintings from last year. Wow...it’s already May!
Playing around with thick paint.
My first screenprint!
Turnip hides from something strange.
Some sketchbook paintings.
Been doing some quick landscape studies.
I hung out with a cat named Mumba over Christmas. He has eyes as dark as the night sky.
Last figure painting of the year!
After months of stressful home renovation and moving, I finally found a little time to paint with friends Friday morning before work. Maybe the pressure of having to do everything right all the time broke me because I was painting loosely and did very little planning. I didn't care about the correct shapes or lighting, and I accepted any mistakes as happy accidents. I really like the final painting and I feel grateful to have had all these months of stress, because it's made me grow in a new direction as an artist.
When Sesame and Peanut first moved into our home they were not greeted with welcome by our other two hens. The bullying never fazed Sesame though; nothing dampened her curious nature. On the other hand, Peanut, the chronically skittish one, became worse. She hid behind Sesame everywhere she went, and Sesame always looked out for Peanut. They did everything together and waited for each other whenever they got separated.
But you know how the story ends. Peanut ran away one day and when my mom found her and brought her back, Sesame turned on her. It was as if they've never met before.
Chicken drama...I will never understand it.
A few of us at work get together Friday mornings to paint for an hour before work. This was from August of last year. I saw it on my hard drive tonight and decided that I still like it.
