"And why do we fall, Bruce?"
So this isn't the most fun thing I've ever written, but it's important. This morning, I, along with countless other employees, was let go from Spinmedia today. It's okay - I'm not mad or angry. I'm sad and disappointed that this is how it ended, but that's life and business. I can take pride in the fact that I did excellent work as the senior editor of AbsolutePunk.net. It hurts when you lose something like this, especially something that I was pretty good at. But when God closes a door, another one opens.
As for the future of AbsolutePunk.net and my future with it - well that remains to be seen. I'll never ever abandon AP.net - I truly love the site with all my heart and I will still be contributing to the website. I'll still be writing. Life is about to get interesting but I wouldn't want it any other way.
Finally, I want to thank Jason Tate for giving me this opportunity. I've known him since 2005 and I know this is just as tough for him as it is for me. He's one of my better friends and we won't stop working together. Thank you to anyone who has ever read one of my reviews or articles - that means the world to me and is the reason why I'll never stop writing about music.
"so we can learn to pick ourselves up."
So just like everyone else who updated their iPhone to iOS7, it basically turned my phone into a Sidekick 1 (or whatever version didn’t even have Javascript). In case you don’t get the ref, it just doesn’t do as much stuff as an iPhone should after the update. The great news is, since I haven’t...

I wrote this.
Everything is personal, psychological, and physical, with the music complimenting the words perfectly. Is Survived By isn’t a concept album by nature, but you’d be foolish to not realize the personal growth displayed from “Just Exist” to the closing title track. It’s ultimately a triumph over apathy.

In this episode Jim from Jimmy Eat World calls in to talk about the band’s current tour, recording and releasing their latest album, and the mindset behind why the band tries to write for themselves — not critics.
Past episodes can be found here.
This week’s episode is one of my favorites we’ve recorded — it helps when the guest is one of my favorite musical artists of all time. Hope everyone enjoys the discussion and questions as much as I did talking about them. I tried to touch on things I’d seen a lot of people ask about in in the forums and on Twitter.

This was so much fun. Being a huge fan of Jimmy Eat World - it was amazing to finally talk to Jim and pick his brain a little bit. Check out the podcast, it's great.
