A pirate? Though he doesn’t immediately mention it, that tidbit is interesting information too him. Behind a title are experiences: anecdotes, kinship, a lifestyle. And a title not so unlike his own, at that. When they’re not so occupied with the task at hand, Yan would ask about it. But for now, he focuses on the task at hand, following closely behind his new ally and whistling a tune along the way.
The city seems to have been stricken with a dead silence in the areas that fell sparse of other teams looking to place their beacons. It’s almost deterring, and results in Yan Qing finding himself checking over their map periodically to ensure that they’re progressing in the right direction. He keeps an effortless and carefree stride about him. However, if asked, he’d admit he was starting to grow impatient and bored. The buildings pass taunt him; mellow city-streets pass and yet continue to stretch on into the horizon. Perhaps their destination is another mile or so off, but it feels like more.
“So the sea, yeah? Sure that’s somewhere familiar to you. What’ll you do if our destination’s beyond the shore with no ships here?” Until then, he’d be a bother to whoever he could to kill the time.
“Then we shall swim.” It would be as simple as that.
The last leg of the trip carried out much the same. Quiet at times, though if Yan should speak up and offer a comment or question Motochika was quick to answer in kind, sparing not a breath. And in truth, it helped the time pass much quicker. The pirate would puff his chest in some pride, having lead the small team to their destination with only a single pause to re-check the map. By all accounts, Chosokabe may had have the burly appearance of a man who didn’t know much beyond how to swing a spear and throw his weight, but he had his merits.
The task was simple and with the point being not too far from the shore, the pair were spared a swim. The goal was not guarded - well at least not now. He’d leave the rest to his teammate as he’d curiously take in the sights. As intriguing as strange waters were - it wasn’t the sight he seemed to be searching for. He frowned, that single eye peering about. Why did a task like this require teams? Perhaps there was a part he missed?
The beacon was placed, nice and clean and just before the pirate would ask about the next - something else saw fit to speak up. The curious device he hadn’t given much attention and buried haphazardly in his pocket lit up. Much like the screens from the first given task, this one too beamed and operated in what he understood to be like a mirror that functioned over long distances in one form or another. Without moving parts and betting it unwise to break the thing apart - this was all Motochika could gather from this odd little future gadget.
The message and images ran clear and it suddenly became apparent what the use of a team could be now.
There was a threat - quite a few it seemed. Like being swept up in a storm at sea there was little point in asking how’s or why’s just yet. What mattered now was surviving the brunt of it.
240 hours….Construction Points…
“Oi, Yan. I trust you caught that. What do you make of it? Seek shelter or do you wager we thin those numbers ourselves?” He heard no answer immediately. Yan wasn’t that far out a moment ago was he? With a glance the pirate would turn to discover….
And what’s worse - the beasts were spawning.
Something better have happened to the bold brunette or by the tempest of a hurricane he would see it done.
