one of the biggest and most devious tools being used against voters now is that voting locations for lower income neighborhoods and neighborhoods that are primarily black or hispanic are suddenly closed down, in the middle of nowhere, or only open for 4 hours a day do whatever you can to help negate that being a barrier

I’ve posted a handful of comics on my art blog. Many were queer orientated and I wanted to post them before Pride Month reached it’s end. I’ll be reblogging one per week on this blog. Sidenote: In my ‘focus circle’ (writing group) people pointed out, “Why does Mi Na only do accounting work in summer, is she the bread winner or is Issa? Etc” As mentioned in my last post I may redo these intros. Things have fluctuated since I drew these panels. But the loose idea is… Mi Na comes from a relatively well off family. She teaches PE in the school year and works for a seasonal company in the summer. Issa worked at a bookstore but eventually leaves for a higher paying job. She’s slightly the ‘breadwinner’ as she earns more than Mi Na, but not by much.

Reblogging because 1. Awesome Pre-Columbian artwork and 2. Problematic wording. ‘Spanish takeover’ implies to me, a Latina, that the Spaniards ‘won’ and currently own Central America. But they didn’t, we’re still here, we took some of their music because guitars are kinda cool and we overthrew their colonial hold and we’re our own independent nations. Sure, things were hectic for a while, but Spain hasn’t 'taken over’.

Why is Tumblr simultaneously so thoughtful and so toxic? Like, I’ll see a video about strangers helping one another and being adorable, and the next post is like, “Ohmigaud this one person of _____ identity did a terrible thing, therefore ALL PEOPLE OF ______ IDENTITY ARE TERRIBLE.

Dude....calm down. Fall the @#$% down.

Also there was a post about people at Starbucks buying each other drinks, cute right? And then someone comments, “Everyone who goes to Starbucks drives a Lexus and can afford their own $8 coffee, give your money to the barista instead!” 1. Not everyone who goes to Starbucks drives a Lexus, I can guarantee you I’ve seen homeless folk go to Starbucks because someone gave them money and they have just enough for a nice cup of coffee. 2. People who can afford to will tip the barista.

When I finished I saw he had a sign that said ‘Hey you, yeah you, get off my bed’. He knows me too well!”

Me: “Why would you even be on his bed just because he wasn’t there!“ Also me: *currently lounging on my brother’s bed because it looks cozier than mine and is closer to where I was standing and I like having a variety in mattress/lounge surface and (insert 100 excuses here).* Concluding thoughts: Is it...genetic?
