I hate how people accuse Percy of forgetting about Calypso. He made the gods promise to free her and he was under the impression that they would.

It makes sense that Calypso would be upset/angry with him because she's isolated and didn't know if he even tried to help her after he left. That makes sense to me.

But the gods went back on their promise. And everyone holds Percy responsible. He was just a kid, freshly turned 16. Like what was he expected to do? Babysit the gods to make sure they held up their end of the deal? He shouldn't be expected to do that.

Not to mention even if he would've thought to check up on Calypso, he spent 6 months of his sixteenth year with no memories of his past. He literally had no way to help her. Hera stole months from him.

I’m so fucking sick of this argument. You can say things were bad for you without invalidating anyone else’s struggles. Being called a walking corpse is not a compliment, being compared to holocaust victims is not a slap on the wrist. There are many cultures where it is normal to constantly verbally harass you for being underweight. Words hurt both ways, just like it’s not ok to fatshame people stop telling thin people they don’t deserve to have body image issues too or have never suffered from society’s beauty standards cuz not every society is the same and your experiences aren’t universal, just cuz YOU haven’t experienced it doesn’t mean it’s not going on. Bodyshaming is bad all around. And no this isn’t all lives mattering because the statements fat people have been systematically oppressed and scarred by society and thin shaming though not systematic can be severely damaging, can and should coexist! They don’t need to compete or have anything to do with each other, fuck!
