It's a jolly holiday, and you are a horrible goose.
For this year's secret Santa, I drew @sir-kettle-of-countertop 's Gans, and I'm super glad I got too! He's a wretched little thing and I adored working on them.
Plus, here's a peek at the sketch, and a time-lapse of the piece, which I think are super fun to do.
@factual-fantasy
i'd like to add that the shadow color isnt necessarily dictated entirely by the primary light source, but the bounce light! so for the example of a sunny environment, the reason the shadows are blue are because of the light from the blue sky reflects across the environment; but, if the character were to be under tree cover, the bounce light would be coming from the leaves and thus the shadow would look greener.
Yee yee!!! You got it right on the nose!
Bounce light is something I didn't cover but I adore it!
Gotta work on my bounce light 💪

James Gurney is an absolute master and gives really good clarity on colour techniques. Yes, it is traditional paint focused, but the principles are the same. Yes it is informed by the environmental colour but as a painting technique it is achieved this way!
I would also suggest that in digital processing, rather than apply a regular colour layer at a mid opacity, try out the different types of layers, Eg. Screen or Multiply. This can give you at least a starting point to help direct your colour palette.
Layer Blend Modes are so so so important to working in digital art. There's a ton of math that goes into figuring out how the layers should blend together, which is why some of the modes you can pick are literally called Multiply, Add, Divide, and Difference (that's subtraction). The graphics software takes the color values of your base and blend layers and runs a calculation to get your resulting layer appearance. The ones that don't have specifically mathematical sounding names are still doing calculations, but they're more complicated (think linear Algebra and higher). Some of them, like dodge and burn, are named for actual photo editing techniques.
While it's not super important to know about the mathematical side of blend modes, I think it's worth knowing at least enough about how each of the categories of blend modes works and why they do what they do; if for no other reason than having a starting point when you start experimenting with them in your work.
An overview of the basic blend modes and how they work from Genevieve's Design Studio: Accessible with minimal color knowledge; practical and illustration focused. https://youtu.be/kMc87hQrJd0?si=TWCB365pKSfWS8p0. (16 minutes) This creator also has a ton of free resources you can download, including a Blend Modes cheatsheet, but fair warning: you have to create an account to get them!
Want to learn even more about the math-y stuff? It has great film visuals! A video from FilmmakerIQ: You need some basic knowledge of RGB color models, understanding of values/luma, and at least a tenuous understanding of Algebraic formulas. She is everything to me
(No spoilers please I only just finished season one)
Finished a Mech Illustration for a good friend of mine. This one has been in the works for a while granted.
Once I got into the swing this was really fun to do

I've been watching my friend play Dispatch and basically I really like Prism. I love almost the whole cast.
Have a time-lapse too :)
We're back at it again at the Facility. Playing with concepts has led to the birth of two new characters, Thor, a security guy for the Facilities old leadership, and The Archivist.
You may notice The Archivist looks like Nym. And that's because she is. I wanted to draw Nym as if she was an Abyssophobia character. She likely isn't going to stay in this role, but the role i think the role itself will be p important especially in the early game.
And more Macys. :)
Finally managed to finish up a backlog of work, starting with some commissions for a friend on a DnD server, the later of which was being played actively on that server, and I think recently retired.
Also posting some commissions I finished a while ago, and apparently never posted here, both for players on that server, the later of which here is also actively being played.
Going to to post this on Ko-Fi, in a little bit, where my commissions are live and OPEN.
And I've got a lot more stuff I've drawn over the last few weeks I'll be posting over the next few days, including Pokémon and Abyssophobia stuff.

Last post before a week long break for Starfest and preparations <3 see you guys in Lublin!

Happy WIP Wednesday!
I don't really have a price I'm actively working on right now, so here's part of the next section of the Abyssophobia sketch book, featuring some Hollow Knight studies.
I recorded the time lapse for something else, it's not something I do often so figured I'd post that too for a change. :)
Took a pause on the digital sketchbook to work on commissions. And in the mean time, wanted to sketch out a kind of concept title screen for the Game in question. I ended up animating it too, since I want it to have the jitters. Could use some tweaks for final versions, definitely, but I'm happy with how this looks!
Happy WIP Wednesday everybody!
I don't have an active WIP atm, so here's the first 3 pages of a digital sketchbook I've been working on. It's the next best thing.
These are concept sketches for a quest in the Video Game that lives in my head. I'm going to do more over the week, probably focusing on the other girl. Probably post again at the end of the week bc I love them so much.
Took a break from my current Project Purgatory to sketch some Slay the Princess themed Gestaltzerfalls.
Hey yall! Been a minute! I'm a few days late, but now that July is over, I wanna post a dump of all the attacks I did for artfight this year. I didn't do as much as I planned originally. I drew everything in the first week of the event and sorta got distracted with other projects, but I did more attacks than last year, and that's good enough for me! So in order, the characters are Charlie, belongs to my friend KittyLoc. Can't find them on Tumblr rn. Hubris Lightspell, belongs to my friend @milk-city Illya Io belongs to @bonesjaunst (Thanks!!) Dove Starling belongs to @pixelpurr (Thank you too!! (I gotta know how you made your blog look like that, it's so cool btw)) And finally Coqui the frog, who belongs to gudufufruit on Insta. I had a lot of fun, can't wait for next year, and go check out my friends I love them so much!
to the people on my revenge list I may have forgotten
Gore involves mutilation, body horror involves transformation. Gore is realistic, body horror is unrealistic. Losing parts vs growing parts. I'm gonna kill everynyan
It's that Time of the year again yall!!! You know the deal (Holy shit guys I can't fucking believe I forgot to post this. It's been sitting in my drafts for TWO WEEKS)
