Hope everyone is enjoying Flowers, with a few extra game tweaks and our overhauled translation.
People who preordered Flowers should have gotten a JASTUSA code yesterday, so they can start playing while they wait for the package to ship. The Steam keys will be in the box along with all the other goodies; they’re expected to ship around the 27th from J-List~
If you haven’t picked up a copy yet, you have a few options:

JAST Download Click here
As some of you already know, we’ve got a new forum! http://discuss.jastusa.com
After months of tweaking and patching up bugs we’re finally up and running. We’re still adjusting the format so any feedback you have or features you want to see, let us know~ We’ll be posting 3rd party reviews, and you can tell us what you want to see next or chat about our upcoming titles like Sonicomi and Flowers.
If you had an account on the old forum we’ve already moved you over, you simply need to activate your account by logging in. We have a good team of volunteer moderators, and the JASTUSA staff will be on to answer your questions.
See you there.
Sonicomi graphics settings~
Some people have been worried about computer specs for playing Sonicomi, so I have a bit of a roundup on how it runs. The minimum requirements for the original Japanese release were a Pentium 4 3.0ghz, 1 gb ram and a DX9.0 compatible graphics cards with pixelshader 2.0 support and 128mb of vram. They recommended a core2duo, 2 gb ram and a card that was a geforce7600 or higher to run the game with better performance.
Given that we have updated the graphics to the nicer ones from the newer release of the game, the requirements should be a little higher, but technical jargon aside. If you bought your computer in the last 5 years, chances are that you have a CPU which is 2-3 times better than the P4 (discontinued in 2008) and equal to or much better than the Core2duo line (discontinued in 2011). Almost all videocards now support pixel shader 2 and can perform much better than the old geforce models.
So in general, most people should not have to worry about their PC specs.
I've used a non gaming computer with relatively common components (core i3 processor and a HD4000 integrated graphics processor) for this test -running it at 1280 x 720 resolution.
In the screenshot above the background image will look the same on any graphics setting but sonic is a 3D CG so her level of detail will change.
You can tell that in low (left) the lines are still jagged and there are no shadows or smoothing. The middle is at 'medium' setting, theres a big improvement in quality, shadows appear and the lines are generally smoothed over. The right side is set to 'high' and the difference compared to medium is not as dramatic but the shadows are more detailed and the lines are a touch smoother.
At all 3 settings, playing the VN part of the game rendered pretty well. there was no lagging or huge graphical glitches, the cursor was slightly slower for some of the choice selection parts but overall very playable.
The FPS photo shoot mode was a different story. With the integrated card, low setting was super smooth, but at the same time without any detail (in fps mode the background is also rendered so it takes more cpu/gpu power than the vn mode.)
Set on medium, was probably the best choice for the integrated card (turning off the HDR setting changes the lighting but also makes it perform better). It was the best mix of graphics quality and game play motion for the integrated card. I was able to easily hit all the targets and didn't feel much lag.
On high setting, the HD4000 was struggling. It was generally laggy and hard to play. At this point I switched to a laptop with a dedicated card (my Asus Ultrabook with a Nvidia GeForce GT 620M Dedicated card). On high it played pretty well. Still not as smooth or fast as on low with the integrated card but it was playable and I was getting 'A's on the shooting missions.
TLDR: This game should play fine for most people who are using a computer they bought in the last 5 years-ish, although the graphics may not be maxed out. For the best graphics (by only a small margin, but still...) you'll need a slightly higher end or gaming computer.
I'll have a few more updates in the coming weeks with some video when i find my tripod.
In the meantime, check out the new forums (we've revamped them!) at discuss.jastusa.com
What’s in each edition of Seinarukana?
Seinarukana has been an interesting ride so far; but it has finally been shipped/ released! Currently there are 2 editions available; the packaged one and the download edition. In the fall we’ll also be releasing the Steam edition.
Package Vs. Steam Vs. Download? The package edition will include the DVD-ROM, which is the 18+ version, as well as a Steam card with a code for the steam edition, which is all ages (redeemable upon the Steam release in Fall 2016). Along with the manual and omake posters. https://jlist.com/jast011
There is also the option of buying the JASTUSA Download or Download Code. This download will be for the 18+ version of the game. https://www.jastusa.com/seinarukana-the-spirit-of-eternity-sword-2.html
The Steam version will not include the adult content. There will not be a packaged version of the Steam edition of the game.
Game content
The Download edition of the game is a localized version of Seinarukana’s original PC release with all the 18+ content included (de-mosaiced of course).
The Steam version of the game obviously can not include the adult scenes, but we have included the extra content (scenarios and routes) that generally replaces the adult content and was not in the original PC release. The Steam edition is taking longer because of all the programming for the extra content. It will be released in Fall 2016).
Hopefully this clears up what you’ll actually be getting with each edition and you can choose the one that is right for you. Hope you enjoy the game~

How’s the script fix for Starless going?
Script check is moving slow, it’ll pick up around May or June when some of the current projects get cleared out.
Game Localization: Beta Testing Fun~
A problem that we run into in almost every visual novel is the differences in character length between the English and Japanese. Since the Japanese versions use Kanji, and there are no spaces in Japanese, a lot of sentences require less characters.
Each time we do a script revision, or when the devs change the interface, we’d have to also do a “right edge check” since editing a few words even would add or remove 3-5 characters from a line and screw up the formatting.
For the last few weeks we’ve been making scripts to detect words and punctuation so that it could automatically figure out and edit the game text space. Otherwise the right edge would cut off characters, or split up words. With Ryoko, the game’s text box also changes length depending on if there is a character speaking or if it’s a “scene”. But it was time well spent, since doing the spacing manually would take way too much time.
If only everything were as simple as turning on the “text wrap” option XD
I just realized this this is one of the “postable” screenshots that I have. Most of the other shots in this game are just the background image or a bit too NSFW for casual audiences, but more on that next time. Hope you enjoyed some insight on how we get these VNs to you~
Just wrapped up doing a little price update. A lot of our titles got a nice price drop. Check it out if you’ve been waiting for a time to fill in the gaps in your collection :)
Waited all morning for this to happen… flowersgame.com tell me what you guys think of the game so far ^_^ Edit: direct to the steam demo page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/445440

Flowers fans spotted lots of errors in the translation: https://storify.com/KurosakaRyuuko/flowers-demo-translation
Yes, we’re working on getting those fixed. The demo was an early stages version, we’ll be updating it soon. There may have also been an internal error in the QA process for the demo. The final release version will have all these issues fixed.
