Ming Yue approves of the tea gatherings. Greatly approves of them. And awwww how kind of Lealtad to look after Dong Gua. I can see him prancing all around her and trying to grab her tail and then just snuggling under her mane.

Yes good. There are two things Ming Yue will never turn down. One is tea parties. The other is more cats for those parties. Good job Dong Gua, bringing home all the cat friends.

Also yes grooming. Dong Gua loves grooming and general attention. Love him more.

Rick and Ming Yue?

Name: ??? (Rick would have let Ming Yue pick, but I don’t know what she might have called the boy…).

Gender: Male

General Appearance:

He’s got his mom’s eyes and his dad’s hair color, though its texture is much more relaxed. He’s of about average height, though a bit light.

Personality: Quiet, observant, but active, affectionate, and mischievous. He’s had quite a few scoldings from his mother over the years (and plenty from Rick, too, just not as often).

Special Talents: Training small fighting types and making tea to soothe aches and worries.

Who they like better: Hard to say, as he loves both for different reasons. Would have to go with Rick, though, as Rick only scolds certain kinds of mischief/misbehaviour.

Who they take after more: His mother - the boy doesn’t act out as often as Rick did at his age, and seems to have a much more level head on his shoulders.

Personal Head canon: Whenever he needs to break unpleasant news to Ming Yue, he sets about making a particular kind of tea and sweets; she’s on to him from the start, but she lets him go through with it - builds character.

I want to write things with Ming Yue but then I remember that the only thing I currently want to do with her is engage in three-way marriage battles between her brother, her fiance, and Dong Gua.

It would probably be something like:

Fiance: “Honored Father, please give me your daughter.” Brother: “I REFUSE!” *dramatic slamming of hands on table* Dong Gua: HISS PUFF SNARL NO. HOW DARE YOU.

So at one point I considered giving a Tibetan Mastiff-based Arcanine to Ming Yue. Her betrothed back home has a Siberian tiger-based one and they could be best buds or something.

And then I remembered that Ming Yue has absolutely no idea how to actually handle Pokemon that aren’t lazy and generally good-natured like Lei or tiny and easily moved like Dong Gua and that is why she is never getting her enormous fire dog. Which she probably doesn’t even want in the first place.

Olivia is a freaking lion tamer, her father had an arcanine as pet, and I would love to draw one of those for her. If I ever decide to give her a huge dog like pokemon, do you mind if I use this dog as reference? It’s majestic.

Ming Yue sleep things

she's never going to want to part with these pillows. Oh my goodness. They are so soft and fluffy and fabulous.

or these beds. She's used to sleeping on hard beds with a thin mattress so these beds feel like clouds.

places a bamboo mat on top of the bed in the warm months. Is fine with both cold and warm weather.

has to completely brush out her hair before going to sleep. And then completely brush it out again when she wakes up.

Sleeps in a loose, flowing nightgown with a loose sash.

all of her ornaments and other trinkets are painstakingly arranged in the little drawer she's "borrowing" for maximum ease in grabbing them when she's still half-asleep in the morning and needs to get ready.

which I suppose means that if you manage to startle her badly enough she might try to make a half-asleep dash to the drawer so she can stab you with a hairpin before actually waking up

I don't know what you're doing to get to that stage though. Just please don't burn the house down.

wakes up early and sets about almost immediately with household chores. Chances are high that by the time you wake up there will already be a steaming pot of tea and food already set out for you. She won't go out of her way to wake you unless you ask her to the night before or the like.

Lei parks himself almost exclusively by the front door at night.

Dong Gua sleeps on the bed. Multiple attempts to move him have failed spectacularly. You will have to live with the fact that you must share the bed with this needy cub.

I guess if you're desperate enough you can forcibly lock him out.

Dong Gua puffs up, deciding that he doesn't like this new toy at all and squeezing himself under the couch to glare accusingly out. Ming Yue stares at the cuffs in distaste and sighs. And just when they had finally gotten the first pair off--she was beginning to think that the people here had an unhealthy relationship with being tied up and confined. How else could there be so many cuffs.

"Does this usually happen?" she asks instead, rattling the chain. Were there just hand cuffs hidden in every corner of this place? She didn't know anymore.
