This is the first post (and first non-work related thing) I've done in ages. It's a personal exercise to shake the rust off my Illustrator basics. I made this by following a tutorial from Vectortuts (link) that I've been meaning to give a go at for quite some time. It took a few hours to make, but I had fun doing it and I'm pretty happy with the results. It's reminded me how fun it is to mess around with this stuff so I'll probably try out more tutorials in the future.
Hammerin' Hank Brewery
This was an exercise for my Digital Media Arts class. The assignment was to make a fictitious beer label for "Hammerin' Hank Brewery's Home Run Hops" made right here in Niagara Falls. The focus of the exercise was learning how to type on paths in Illustrator so I was slightly limited in what I could make, but I ended up not having as much time to put into this one anyway.
Misfits T-Shirt Design
This was an exercise for a Digital Media class. The idea was to make a band t-shirt using Illustrator techniques to manipulate an image. The artwork for the Misfits logo is not my own design.

So after a literal sea of harsh criticism and hatred that was voting for a Quad Party shirt, my design won if only for being the least hated. I was asked to change it (the joke was "we're not drywall we're just plastered" and I had misquoted it) so I did. Didn't try too hard though cause I'm still sore from the whiplash. I was asked to include the back of another shirt too as a nod to Quad Parties past but I won't be posting that because I don't care for politics.

Work-In-Progress exercise for my DMA class. Still have to add words, and a picture of a player I'm cutting out. Maybe a slogan. Also need to cut out some of the white in the Pirates logo cause it bothers me.
Weekly World News: Pirates Invade Boston
This was an exercise for a Digital Media Arts class. The basic requirement of the exercise was to take a background photo and Photoshop something into the foreground, similar to how Weekly World News makes their tabloid photos. In this case I used a photograph I took on a trip to Boston and edited in a group of pirates from another photo. The rest of the cover was just extra work to make it appear as close as I could to an actual cover of Weekly World News. The photograph of the woods is another photo I took in the woods around a friend's house. I threw in Elvis just for fun.
Quad Party '11 T-Shirt Idea
This is my submission for our fraternity's Quad Party shirts. I wanted it to be a wall of Impact font primarily in black with accents of red. The white would be absent in the actual graphic because the shirt it would be printed on will be white. It would take up most of the front of the t-shirt. Originally "QUADPARTY '11" was on the back with another graphic but I felt it looked better in the block of text on front as it increased the height and centered the graphic. Quad Party is the annual end-of-semester college-sponsored party at Canisius College.
