Autumn Aesthetics (3/?) - Arthur Weasley
October, baptize me with leaves! Swaddle me in corduroy and nurse me with split pea soup. October, tuck tiny candy bars in my pockets and carve my smile into a thousand pumpkins. O autumn! O teakettle! O grace!

She wasnât going to pretend she didnât have a soft spot for the littles that just simply seemed to love being able to be in the air and learning the game of Quidditch for the first time and the Weasley boys were certainly no exception to the fact that their faces lit up still whenever theyâd catch the Quaffle or when they would jump on a broom and go zooming off. In England there wasnât always as many chances to be able to fly when youâre little as one would like, unless you were willing to get more than a little wet and possibly muddy.
It certainly helped that all the children were more than willing to run around and be more than a little crazy and screaming, enjoying the time outdoors and caused Doe to smile softly at the set before running a hand through her hair and waving at the eldest Weasley boy when he hollered. âDoing rather good,â she said, sitting down in the grass and crossing her legs. âHow are you and the babies doing? Looks like some of them are most certainly enjoying the sunshine we have today.â
The children did seem to be enjoying it, and it seemed like Arthur might be a little bit less frazzled than he was more days than not without his wife there supporting him. As much as the Order could try to feel like they were doing more than what he required in helping, Dorcas couldnât imagine that anyone would be able to really take up the slack that Molly Weasley had undoubtedly left, especially with the potential loss weighing on everyone. âMostly though, how are you doing?â
The eldest three flitted through the airs, their laughter and Percyâs unsure voice floating down to the rest of the group as background noise. Arthur smiled over at Dorcas as she sat and he chuckled warmly. âWeâre, uh, doing well. B-Billâs trying to-to teach Percy how to fly and, um, Iâm not sure heâs meant for it.â He admitted quietly. The twins moved closer to Dorcas, though not close enough to touch. They were curious little mischief seekers and Arthur wondered what could possibly be going through their heads.
Arthur leaned back onto his elbow, taking in Dorcasâ face. âHolding up, Iâd very much like for-for more news but.. weâre... settling in? Not, um, moving out of the-the tent y-yet âcause I-I dunno where M-Mollyâd wanna be but..â He frowned. âHow-Howâre you, um, settling in? Godricâs Hollowâs... an in-interesting place to m-move to now..â

I think we all need to be more like Mr Weasley.
He loves what he loves, no matter what people say.
I respect him so much for that.
xeno:
Only looking up after explaining exactly what he was doing, Xenophilius was glad to see it was Arthur who had wandered over to the small garden theyâd been working on lately. He wasnât sure exactly what the other was chuckling over, as in his opinion Viriblnets were very serious business, but he had long ago stopped questioning what others found amusing about his discoveries. At least Arthur was always kind, and often times was willing to listen, even with such a weight on his shoulders.
âOf course, of course, and I sincerely hope that is how you find your Molly as well,â Xenophilius said with a wave of a gloved hand. The task he had set out to accomplish with the odd plants was, of course, to help do just that, or at the least provide a hint of comfort to the others knowing something was out there searching for them, but the whims of the human mind did not control magical creatures such as the ones he was attempting to summon.
âViriblnets, you see, are experts at finding that which you want in the way you need it. My hope is that those amongst us longing for loved ones all need them in body and mind, as you need your Molly, and therefore that is how the Viriblnets would find them. But itâs not a precise art. The creatures have minds of their own. They sense what we cannot,â he explained, just as a thought struck, urged forward by whispers in his ear, a sudden worry. âAre the children going to be at the vigil?â
âThese, um, Viri-Viri-Viri... c-creatures seem very.. very clever.â Arthur replied, his ears turning pink due to his embarrassment. He didnât expect Xenophilius to have the patience to deal with his stutter so he reworded his sentence. Arthur couldnât help but hope that Xeno was correct in his assumptions so that their missing would be returned soon. He didnât know how many more restless nights and questions from the children that he could handle. Arthur didnât want to lie to them, didnât want to give them a false sense of the world, but he also didnât want to upset them either.
âOf-Of course? Theyâre.. They need it too. Itâs for, uh, for everyone.â He frowned, wondering why Xeno was asking. âArenât you going?â He glanced at the plants, now pondering why he wouldnât bring his children. They needed the hope and the feeling of community that came with the vigil. In truth, it was Arthur who needed the support. He wasnât handling this well.
âWhat would you have them do in-instead?â
Arthur stood near the vigil, Ginny and Ron tucked in the buggy with the twins sitting beside it. The older kids who could be trusted to hold candles stood nearby solemnly. Arthur could almost swear he heard Bill whispering reassurances but he wasnât sure. Everyone was paying their respects. He, himself, was saying what could only be described as a prayer to whatever or whoever might be listening for everyoneâs safe return and to take care of those who theyâd lost forever.
It was within this silent moment that Glendaâs voice rang out and his eyes snapped up to the radio, glued there as though the witch was standing before them and speaking. His heart was racing and he felt one of his children cling to his leg but couldnât look to see who it was.
Headquarters, members turning to the darkness, all of that information quickly flooded into his ears and swiftly back out once word of the lost was spoken. Arthur wanted to shout, wanted Glenda to just spit it out already, when she was interrupted.
âNO!â Arthurâs shout was involuntary and he was embarrassed by his own outburst. He bit his tongue and emotionally retreated to check on his children who were all startled. Whether that was by him or the broadcast he couldnât be sure but he took a shaky breath to steady himself and managed a âL-Letâs get back to-to the tent, yeah?â
Arthur wouldnât sleep that night, or likely any night following.
Because in the Goblet of Fire Molly mentioned being scolded for coming back at 4 am, so I had to draw her hanging out with Arthur at Hogsmeade way later than they were allowed>)
alastor:
Alastor nodded his affirmation. He leaned forward whispering loud enough that Arthur could still hear, although the boys were too wound up to probably notice, âIf you finish all your work, I have a friend who found a new book about dragons.âÂ
He had to commend Arthur and all that he did for his children. He knew he probably didnât have too much time before the twins would wake and attempt to do something like set the tent on fire, so Alastor didnât wonder too far from the tents opening before he turned to face Arthur.
âHowâs everything holding up?â
Charlieâs face lit up and he began to write with more intention. Bill winked at Alastor and also returned to his work. Percy, who had yet to acknowledge Alastorâs presence by more than a polite greeting, glanced up and then returned to his arithmetic without a word. Arthur was still trying to figure out just what his interests were other than everything related to furthering his own knowledge.
Arthur followed Alastor with his hands in his pockets, trying not to think of what horror could be awaiting to be told. When instead of bad news he was met with a question the surprise was clear upon his face. âOh, uh...â He frowned, thinking about the question. âAlright, I suppose? Um... The-The kidsâre... Theyâre getting, um, r-restless.. Definitely... Definitely, um, starting to get used to-used to Godricâs Hollow, though. Iâm doing fine, though..â He wasnât entirely sure it was the truth but he figured it had to be for now.
â - for a thought my muse keeps to themselves.
Arthur has started to think this war might be unwinnable. Seeing children slaughtered as well as brave adults that have fought so hard for this for so very long has started to make Arthur believe thereâs nothing else they can do. Arthur certainly isnât much of a fighter and the fire is threatening to go out should he lose much else.
