Masquerade Falls

I crouched over bits of flesh from the body still hanging from a red cedar tree bound by leather straps. The bodies exposed to the falls morning air and delicate mist for hours. With the sun rising and scattered rays creeping through the few bare spaces, everything looked dull and gray, except for the chunks of flesh lying on the ground and the insane instrument in the middle. I watched as the mist created a sort of halo effect softening the gore; making it appear less real. My first thought would have been it's a ritual killing but it's not. It could have been plausible if we didn't have several other bodies that had been tortured, posed and each left at different waterfalls around Washington with a note for me.
