We aren’t turning against our community. We are asking that people who haven’t watched the show let us mourn in peace - we get you want to extend condolences, but we have been dealing with people invading our tags FOR WEEKS to talk about Lexa, they didn’t give a damn about our characters. You might be extending condolences nicely but I’ve had 4 anons who’ve sent me ‘I told you so, we warned you’ messages. We have people in the tags RIGHT NOW, continuing to talk about Lexa’s death, not Roots. Sorry if some of us are fucking touchy. 

We are not saying this show is above the byg trope, we are not saying that the plot overrides the death. What we are saying is that we knew this was coming. We expected this since at least the beginning of Season 4. What we are saying is that this was in character, meaningful. What we are saying is that we are sick as fuck as watching ourselves die, but please just. Let us be with our own fandom. 

I recognize your interactions have been with people in the POI fandom acting superior, but almost all of my interactions have been with T100 people acting superior. There are two sides to this coin. Please just. Let us work through this in fandom. 

I’m as sick of watching us die as you. I’m crying as I write this. But saying we are turning against our community for daring to have a different opinion or a different way of processing or are holding out hope because over 5 years POI has shown itself to be one of the least problematic shows I’ve ever watched and we have 3 episodes left for them to handle this? Don’t. Please.

I get that people are hurting right now, I understand that it sucks to watch another source of representation slip through your fingers. I am in no way trying to justify what happened to Root in relation to the bury your gays trope. With that being said I do think it is unfair to discredit everything that has been done thus far. Stop reducing the support the cast and crew have given Root and Shaw shippers for years because of something that was planned to happen before the foundation for Root and Shaw’s relationship was even created. Your anger and sadness is understandable, but don’t try and force this into a mold for something it’s not. The accusations are misplaced and half-contextual. Root and Shaw were just two people who happened to have a connection because of their inability to have a connection with people (ironic right?) and they eventually fell in love. It was slow burn, it was genuine, and it was beautiful. But it was never a safe bet which they both knew and well… now Root is dead; but all the context that led up to that point has magically been forgotten or ignored solely because she died. You cannot mutilate a story so it fits your argument. Don’t erase the good done on this show just because Root died.
