"I think there’s something in the way, Captain."
not dis shitto again -
He was so over this.
The classic switcharoo. Again. He really needed to get a bag that wasn’t so easily mistaken for the other’s around here. Just as he had finished at the gym, he found himself looking up, only to find a young lady carrying his bag into the girl’s locker room. Are you serious, he would think. This happened way too often to be normal.
That’s why, with a generally grumpy disposition, Joseph Joestar found himself slathered in makeup again, bright red lips pulled into a deep frown as he trekked through the school grounds. He aimed to get back to the locker room, but… he couldn’t help but catch some eyes staring at him.
Jeeze, it must’ve been because he was too cute like this. … Until he felt a stranger bump into him, anyways. Staring too hard, probably.
“Hey, watch it! You normally bump int’cute lil’ ladies?!” He spoke with a voice that was higher in pitch than his usual tone, trying his best to imitate a young lady. Incredible. He just wants to get into the girl’s locker room, grab his bag, and take this disguise off. “… Y-Y’smudged m’makeup!! Th’fuck’s wrong with ya!”
This... was probably one of the things Levi would have preferred to have forgotten.
Twice, he had pulled the same exact outfit in the past. Memories this (literally and metaphorically) vibrant were difficult to bury under the rug indefinitely. Dull silvers would cast upon this behemoth in drag-- knowing the rest of the island, his disguise would be easily seen through. After all, no woman exists with that sort of trademark build. At least, that's what he convinced himself of.
Lord, please let him be right.
Slowly, the soldier steps away. "My bad." His response is dull. "It looked like shit already, I didn't think a man half your size would be able to make it worse without even touching your face."
"It won't happen again, ma'am."
Well. He won't pass him by without a parting gift. Circling around the behemoth, he halts himself. He wouldn't feel fulfilled if he didn't elicit some sort of response from the giant. So... Hunching over briefly, both hands scoop under the hem of the other's skirt, and...
Arms thrown up, skirt flips up with it. The world would have a very brief visage of Joseph's lovely thighs and butt before Levi would quickly walk away.
Another nod was given to Levi. They had lived better than most thanks to their strength but only barely. Isabel had only eaten candy a handful of times and that, to her, was like steak to others. Although, she had never had a proper steak. "But I guess we’re better now, huh?" Isabel raised her head only slightly to look at him. "I mean this place is bad but it’s not like it’s worse than the underground…" Looking down suddenly, she nodded and clenched her fists. "But we’re still gonna get outta here. No matter what!"
With the patting of her back, Isabel returned her gaze to him and smiled. Any show of affection from Big Brother was something to be treasured. While they were rather poor displays to others, Isabel cherished them greatly and usually brightened afterwards. "Yup! A punch to the gut and then no ice cream. Farlan’ll get it for sure! Serves him right!" Thinking of the idiot’s face, Isabel smirked. He wouldn’t get her ice cream. Whatever ice cream was.
A bit of guilt washes over the soldier, if only briefly. At least, now, he could share his exotic meals with Isabel this time around. Cherish what little time he has left with this girl, he thought. It won't last. Not here. Not anywhere.
"Yeah. We will." He... honestly isn't sure how much he'll be looking forward to that. Something brought Isabel back from the grave, but what if, by the time they're allowed to leave, that magic is broken? Ah, but he shouldn't think about those things so much. They're, for the most part, unimportant details for the time being. His energy would instead be focused on leading the younger girl into the cabins, trailing into the kitchen, and rummaging through the freezer.
"Shit like this doesn't even exist in the inner walls." Levi muses absently, a pint of vanilla ice cream secured and yanked out from the recesses of the freezer. Turning on a heel, he presents his secured prize to Isabel, a chilly pint of ice cream indeed. "Open it and take off the plastic shit. I'll get a spoon for you."
Talk shit about Farlan, and Farlan appears. It's magic.
"Ice Cream?" The name interested her. Ice was rarely seen in the Underground unless it was or nearing Winter. Isabel shook her head. "Nope, I’ve never had it before." For a moment, she wondered if it was candy but she figured she’d find out soon enough. Nodding immediately at his inquiry, Isabel pumped her fist into the air. "I’m in! Ice cream with Big Bro and Bro Jojo. Alright!" Hopping ahead, Isabel rested her hands behind her head and grinned. "I bet Farlan’ll be jea-" The sentence died but Isabel stopped only to fall into step with Levi. With her Aniki’s appearance and the addition of Bro Jojo, she had immediately fallen back to the original thought of her family, of her friends, but Farlan wasn’t merely missing. He was gone. A frown fell onto her and for a moment it seemed like her eyes were watering but Isabel simply continued walking. "I’ll eat his share too then. That’ll show him!" Was her reply.
"Oh. Right. I forget how depraved we were living in the asshole of the walls." The Underground. Fun times, huh. Those times were behind them now. For the time being, anyways. He's indulged himself in the exotic sweets department long before his second arrival in Hope's Peak. It... wouldn't hurt to share such indulgences with Isabel.
A pause. Right. Farlan... he's missing. Missing. Right. That's what he had to excuse his absence with, wasn't it? Briefly, the soldier falls back in his pace, to allow Isabel to walk at his side instead. A hand would collide with her upper back-- a pathetic attempt of a reassuring pat on the back as the two of them walked. "If you see him again, eat ice cream right in front of his face and tell him that he can't have any."
Isabel had known that Levi would have agreed to bringing her. After all, they always fought together unless he had a specific plan but hearing his confirmation from the brother she admired filled her with confidence and pride. Now that Big Brother was here, Isabel would be able to slip into their old routine. They’d clean and talk and maybe fight people and whatever else there was to do on the island. She wasn’t entirely sure what there actually was to do but it didn’t matter as long as she was with him. "Hehe. Y’know, Big Bro, we should celebrate you coming back! We haven’t had a drink together in so long. Maybe we can get Bro Jojo to come too! Both of you are back so maybe we can do something."
They've always been a team. Along with Farlan, the trio had done a great deal for one another. They fit well together-- a bond that could never be severed. Could never be replaced.
Levi knew better than that, however.
A sigh. Those thoughts... they should be pushed aside for the time being. "Here's an idea."
"Have you ever had ice cream before? We should get some for ourselves and for Joseph. He should be in the infirmary by now." His arms folded, his gaze flickering elsewhere, towards where the cabins should be from this direction. That's where the ice cream's stored, right? "Are you in, or not?"
"Aniki!" Isabel hadn’t expected him so soon but she wasn’t going to complain. Running up to him to fall into step, she grinned. "If ya ever need help, Big Bro, I’ve got your back! It was sorta empty without ya."
Of course. Quite literally, he was waiting for this stupid game to end. Once the gates were open, he was among the first to leave the grounds. Being greeted almost immediately by an excitable groupie... had its perks. He won't fool himself into thinking such an exclamation was anything except satisfying.
"If I knew you were around, then I would've dragged your ass with me." An absent tilt of his head.
"The game ended right? So Big Bro’s coming home soon! Awwwright!"
Sometimes, he forgets just how excitable she is. Rubbing his ear, the elder soldier passes by.
"I'm never involving myself in a glorified game of hot potato ever again."
Unfortunately, they had been forced into action faster than he would have liked, thanks to a certain pyromaniac that just so happened to ally herself with their team. Thanks, Futo. Thanks. The Joestar would step out from the Green Base, boots heavy against the concrete of the amusement park as he slipped his gloves on. As much of a dumbass as he was, Joseph could easily flip the switch when needed, a serious warrior emerging from what would once be a mischievous boy.
With the punishment of loss being execution, Joseph knew that failure was simply not an option.
His two companions walked by his side, and the youth glanced to them for a moment, taking in what could very well be the last sight of them unharmed.
“Well, our plan got fucked, huh? Looks like we’re gonna just walk in there n’take th’damn thing.”
He was no stranger to last minute plans like this; in fact, Joseph and Caesar’s shared success could all be traced back to rather thrown together convoluted plans usually cooked up by the Joestar himself. Every time, he had his doubts (which was understandable, all things considered) and yet, somehow… every time they managed to make it out. His trust in the other had gone rather far in their friendship because Joseph had never once let him down… but maybe, just maybe, this would be the plan that finally failed them for good.
No. There was no reason to consider that. It simply wouldn’t be so.
The blonde bit back a sigh, tightening his own gloves and throwing his usual scarf around his neck. He looked towards Joseph before throwing another glance at Levi. The hardened military captain who most likely understood a hasty yet necessary plan as they did. Even if they hadn’t known one another long, Caesar knew it was right to trust him, as well. He needed his faith. They all needed just a little faith. Together. Would it be enough? That didn’t matter; regardless of would, it had to be enough.
"… Mmm. We haven’t a choice." He agreed, brows lowering with thought. "No more waiting around, bene?”
And it all comes down to this, doesn't it?
A smoke signal was all it took to alert both the larger males to action. Levi, on the other hand, remains stationary. Unwavering. Acting too hastily without a plan, yes, is dangerous. That much, Levi knew well. But even so, they'll waste time just thinking about one.
That's right. Waste time. Any time wasted and they could wind up all dead by the end of this damned game. Isn't that right... That is right. All of them. Including...
Ah, damn it.
Wordlessly, Levi secured one of the previously gathered whack-a-mole hammers as the other two had begun their initial exchange. The soldier, a captain to his soldiers, was not one for words. He would listen to his superiors, and these men were not those. The two men he wished not to see injured. Gone. The two men he had slowly learned to care for.
To see them ripped out of his hands, just like the others in the past...
No more waiting around. Wordlessly, Levi hurries out of their assigned base. Wasting time making a plan is pointless.
Besides, he would much rather, just as he's done for years, shoulder this battle on his own. He'll be extra careful. After all, he did have a promise to keep.
Is it that time already...?
