With a sheepish smile, Lucy felt like she had to explain - but she couldn’t. She couldn’t say she’d fought by Ian Fleming’s side. “Sorry. I just… I’ve done research on the author before, it’s left me with a soft spot for Bond.”
‘ nah, don’t be sorry. ’ he replied, shaking his head slightly. ‘ i just don’t know too much about that kind’a stuff, so you’ll have to forgive my ignorance on the subject. ’
a brown leather sketchbook is tucked in the crease of her lap as her pencil moves across the page in quick strokes. she’d written to the traveler and now she was drawing the odd man she’d met earlier with the devil horns he’d complained about people saying that he has. well, now he did. at least in her book. what made her look up, though, wasn’t the sound of someone approaching. people came and went through the lobby all the time, it was the voice. violet eyes snap upwards and she’s expecting to meet green ambre skin, but she doesn’t. the scar is the same, though. lips pull into a wide grin over pointed canines as she pushes dark blue locks out of her face. “ fjord, ” the tone is light, airy as she gestures around the corner to where the elevators are hidden. “ there are signs, you know. ” she says, shifting to point to the one above her head. the smile grows somber for a minute, “ when did you get here ? ” but there are underlying words that go unsaid: i’ve missed you.
he’s taken back a moment. the voice sounds familiar, but he can’t say why. déjà vu. he stared at her trying to figure it out, but she wasn’t part of his dreams -- not yet, at least. he didn’t remember traveling with her, her saving his life. he didn’t remember worrying about her, him saving her life. he might have recalled her reslience, and the way she cared about what he was doing to his tusks. he might remember the kiss that wasn’t a kiss, or the look in her eyes when he saw her after he left her with the dragon. but he didn’t. ‘ yesterday, ’ he answers, without thinking but then looks at her with furrowed brows. ‘ i’m sorry, do i know you ma’am ? ”
“Oh, there’s no worries, you’re fine.” Eliza says as she listens. “I think most people would get tired after six flights every day, the elevators are just around the corner, there’s a door towards two elevators, it’s a little hidden.” She explains and motions for him to walk with her. “I’m heading out anyways.”
' well, thank you, ma’am . ’ he said, giving the other a nod. ‘ yeah, it’s not ideal, really, so i appreciate the help. i’m fjord, by the way. ’
The accent took Jessica by surprise, as she hadn’t heard one, especially one so thick, in person before. ❝Oh, er ━━ I’m new here, too.❞ Jess chuckled, one hand coming to rest on her hip, while the other ran through her hair. ❝But, I’m pretty sure the elevators are just down that hallway and to the right.❞ She pointed along the direction she meant with the hand that had just left her locks. ❝Sorry if that gets you more lost, though, and the possibility is there,❞ she humorously admitted.
‘ well, i apologize miss . . . ? ’ he paused for a moment, letting her fill in her own name. ‘ didn’t mean to catch you off guard. ’ the combination of the accent and his appearance had a way of surprising people, it wasn’t something he was unaccustomed too. ‘ however, ’ he said, peering down the hallway in the direction she had pointed, ‘ if you’re getting me lost, it’s only fair you get lost with me. ’
to strangers, teddy tended to come off as TOO MUCH, something that people eventually got used to when they go to know them. “right answer!” the metamorphagus responded as they clapped their hands together, “they have the good shit here too. none of that cheap stuff. well the closest elevators are right down this hall and to the right.” they lead the way, a slight skip in their step, “just got here, hmm? me too. well a few days ago.”
given more of his history it would be hard for fjord to call anyone too much, close friends with people such as jester lavorre, nott the brave, and mollymauk tealeaf . . . even beauregard lionnet. all of the mighty nein really. ‘ well, thank you. ’ he nodded, looking over to see where he was gesturing. ‘ how’s it been so far ? ’
“henrietta.” she responded with the shrug of her shoulders, hands flying to tuck wisps of hair behind her ear, “where’re you from?” blue asked with the cock of her brow, “i personally prefer the stairs but i’m only on the fourth floor.” elevators often times provided for her to have awkward encounters with people she didn’t much care for. “i try to. whenever i can fit it in between double shifts. i’ve been intrigued lately about this…glendower person and i don’t really know why.”
' i’m from dallas ’ port damali it seemed was the truth, but he didn’t know what to do with that new truth really. ‘ stairs are better for y’ i’m sure, i’d just like to have the option. ’ he nodded, listening to her, ‘ huh. what’d he do ? ’ a pause. ‘ y’ ever read about sea monsters ? ’
‘ could i get trost ? ’ fjord asked the bartender, taking a seat at the bar. crossed arms, he looked up to see an unfamiliar face . . . or it should have been. then again, maybe it shouldn’t, he wasn’t sure how this all worked quite yet. no matter, something about the individual behind the counter seemed like someone he should know. @loyaltyresolute
“Did you hear they’re doing a new Bond movie?” The news had made Lucy smile, remembering the time she’d become a literal Bond girl - although, she didn’t appreciate that Ian Fleming had her ‘character’ fall for him. She’d enjoyed turning down the charming man. “He was such an interesting man.” She added almost as an aside.
' uh huh . ’ fjord said, looking at the unfamiliar woman and giving a slow nod. he was inclined to believe many things given the circumstances, but he wasn’t sure how really to respond to that. ‘ i did not. ’
with a clack of his tongue against the back of his teeth he gave a raise of his brows, “i don’t know, mate…” teddy dragged out, arms crossing over his chest, “it’s gonna cost you. that’s privy information you’re looking for…” after a moment, an amused, dimpled grin cracked onto his features before patting the other on the shoulder, “only joking! come on, it’s just down the hall. let me know if you want me to show you where the bar is as well. we could grab a drink and stuff.”
' heh heh ’ fjord gave a bit of a forced chuckle at the man’s amusement in himself. ‘ funny guy. bar though . . . i’m not one to turn down a place for a drink. ’
“sure.” the part time waitress and part-time dog walker responded with the bob of her head, raven locks flying from their clipped down confines in the process, “warning…the elevators here tend to be pretty unreliable though. they just take forever.” blue clutched the books about a man named owen glendower she’d checked out from the library, pressing them firmly against her chest as she lead the way, “you’re from texas?” her own henrietta accent was thick, despite the fact that she believed she’d grown up here, “i have family there.”
' yeap, ’ he left it at that, even though his own origins were becoming more complicated with the hour. ‘ where’re they at ? ’ he asks, tilting his head towards her. ‘ pretty sure it’s still better than stairs. —— y ’ read a lot ? ’ for some reason he felt reminded of something, or rather a feeling that he should be reminded of something, but nothing came.
“No, I wouldn’t mind at all. I’m actually headed to the elevator myself, you can follow me.” He offered with a welcoming smile. “You said you’re new here, when did you arrive?” He asked as he walked, making friendly conversation as he often did.
' thank you. i appreciate it. ’ fjord nodded and moved to follow the other. ‘ just last night, actually. didn’t feel like botherin’ anyone then, but can’t be using the stairs for too much longer. six flights is more than you expect it to be. ’
‘ uh, i, uh don’t mean to impose, but i’m new here and was wondering if y ’ wouldn’t mind showing me where the damn elevators are. all i’ve found is stairs and i’m not totally inclined to be climbing up six flights all the time. ’ a light texan draw came from the polite, but obviously confused, young man with the slightly scarred face. ‘ just point me in the right direction and i’ll be out of your hair. ’
this gif is a real fjord mood so i couldn’t help but use it . like legit you can almost hear him say : nope. i hadn’t considered that terrifying thought. but thanks, i’ll just add that to the fuckin’ list. hi there ! i’m rion and this loveable texan half orcish hexblade warlock is fjord. no last name offically, but has been known as fjord tough and fjord tusktooth. i’m a twenty one year old college student and freelance coder and am very excited to be here !
* from what point in your character’s canon are they taken from ?
oh, that fateful moment of chaos in the bright queen’s court . . . so yeah, campaign two, episode fifty six ( the favor ) . my thought is that, with so much energy at such a turning point, the luxon beacon played a cruel trick of fate ( or dunamancy ) and brought fjord here.
* what are the basics of their new lives ?
could we imagine fjord anywhere but on the water ? absolutely not. before coming to woodshore, fjord worked as a deckhand on a cargo ship. he’s been having nightmares, very similar to the ones in canon. coughing up salt water was the final straw. a promise of understanding these new visions, and the strange weapon that’s recently come into his possession are what brought him here.
* what were they promised upon arrival in woodshore, and what was their reaction to receiving it ?
fjord just wanted to understand his dreams, and granted he did get something . . . he has an idea of when they started, but he still doesn’t have the answers he wants. it’ll take more answers and more memories to get him there.
* when they arrived in woodshore and recieved what was taken from them, did they gain any memories of their past? if so, what memories do they have ?
memory wise, i think fjord is a bit behind the other members of the mighty nein that are here . . . he remembers the tide’s breath being sunk, he remembers knowing that he was going to die . . . then he remembers not dying, and a single eye staring at him through the dark. watching, potential, learn, grow, provoke, consume, reward, patience . . .
