Between April and September 2016 I went on a literally around the world trip; where I circled the globe.

Not wanting to be a travel bore, I've tried to make this as interesting as possible, as usually these type of videos bore the living hell out of me. So I've kept it simple:

1.) I get slapped in the face with a fish by my friend (filmed in slo-motion). 2.) I wanted to use an epic tune (Lil' Silva - Lines) 3.) I used as many of the coolest videos I could find, interspersed with me getting slapped in the face with a fish.

Zero - Overview by Ivan Madeira - Writer/Director.

80s action films were a healthy part of my film education growing up, particularly films with Arnie. Commando was my favourite, even back then it was ridiculous, fun with some over the top action. Overall it was enjoyable without any sense of irony behind it. Zero is a tip to the nod of the action films from the 80s, but trying to have more style and brutality like modern action/drama classics like The Raid, Bourne Trilogy and Taken.

Having little experience shooting action, this was a far cry from shooting a drama. I amassed a crew together who I’ve worked with before, who were all intrigued in working on an action scene. I got the full help from Filipino Martial Artist expert Ermar Alexander who runs the Hybrid FMA (hybrid-fma.com/) on board. As I have been focusing the vast majority of my film efforts on the Philippines, show casing Filipino Martial Arts as the backbone to this story was critical. This film ties in entirely with The Kick Inside ‘ ecosystem’.

Ermar reviewed the full script (which runs at 18 pages) and picked the best scene that he could choreograph around. He would then reimagine areas of what was written so that it can contained as one story.

We were massively constrained by budget and therefore time. So this is a sizzler of what we want to achieve. Our next aim is to turn this into a full fledge short, with guns, a big fight, VFX and a little cheesy dialogue. We want to continue with the beautiful style of Anthony Gurner and make it bigger. We also want to go out to Cebu to shoot it there properly where the Doce Pares art form originated, which is heavily featured in this short.

Dean "The Lightning" Byrne is a fighter known around gyms around the world, having sparred with some of the best fighters of our generation.

After only having 2 fights in 2 years, Dean recently fought against undefeated heavy hitter Roman "The Lion" Belaev. Despite losing widely on points, his bravery gained the applause and respect of an otherwise reserved Monaco crowd.

Dean has will compete in Prizefighter on 5th April 2014 at York Hall in London. This competition has traditionally been a springboard for prospects or a last chance for veterans and experience fighters.

As the Irish Lightning prepares for this last chance fight, Javier Penin talks to Dean about his last fight in Monaco and his hopes for Prizefighter and the possible future.

Conceived over a random conversation between friends Ivan Madeira and Javier Penin, the idea was to film a short film about exploring the saying "when Manny fights, the world stops." The original idea looked at involving a group of children trying to find a place where they can watch the fight, and their journey trying to find somewhere to watch the fight. With Pay Per View restrictions, you either wait for a delayed broadcast to come on Cable, or you go and find somewhere that's showing the fight. The aim was during the fight, the focus would be on the people stopping, watching things slow down and all time go to zero as opposed to watching Manny fight.

However, the use of child actors changed, when on November 9, Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) the most powerful storm to hit land ever, hit the Philippines and caused an immense amount of devastation and destruction to parts of Visayas, Central Philippines.

Film maker Ivan Madeira was out in the Philippines for work and visiting family before, during and after the typhoon struck. During the weekend of the fight Ivan volunteered to go and film for VSO Bahaginan a video for the #GiveABanca campaign; where he went out with VSO Bahaginan and their partner organisations to raise money to buy fishermen new boats, so they can restore their livelihoods.

Whilst filming for VSO Bahaginan, he also managed to get to watch the fight in a local gym cum aid and relief centre in Northern Cebu. This is where the original sentiment of the film came back into play and subsequently were filmed.

Collecting all Ivan's footage from just after the Typhoon struck up until the day of the fight itself, this film aims to show that even though the people of the Philippines are 'waterproof' and resilient after such a huge disaster, when Manny fights, the people stop.
