Category Spotlight: Steamy Pairings
In our Mature Ballot we have a section dedicated to Erotica categories separated by pairings and other kinks. These categories are for those stories that put their emphasis on steamy sexual content. This year we’ve added one more category to the ones dedicated to pairings that doesn’t get much attention but we hope you’ll receive it with open arms: Hottest girl-on-girl.
Hottest Hetero: Best male/female pairing.
Steamiest Slash: Best male/male. T-cest has its own category.
Hottest Girl-On-Girl: Best female/female.
Hottest Group: Threesomes or moresomes. T-cest groups (that are only a combination of the 4 turtles without another character) go to the T-cest category.
Most Turtle-Tastic T-Cest: Brotherly love.
Remember you have only until March 15th to submit nominations!

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Recently we’ve received a number of questions and ballots filled out incorrectly so we wanted to gather everything into a post to address.
1. How does nominating work?
Think of this as submitting your list of favourite fanfics posted or updated in 2016. Show us stuff you’ve read and loved and would like others to read and love aswell. You nominate by filling out these two ballots:

IMPORTANT! Make sure you fill in the Author and Title correctly and the link you provide works and doesn’t need an account to access it. (This is also for Art and other media nominations where the artist has made the work not available to guests/public)

2. Can I nominate my own work?
In the past this has never been allowed and it is not geared towards this kind of self-promotion but this year we thought we would allow it to some extent. You may submit something written by you under these two conditions (so the competition doesn’t turn into a self-promotion list):
You can only self-nominate in a maximum of THREE categories.
You have to nominate other authors in at least FIVE additional categories.
If you nominated your work and you do not meet these two requirements your ballot will not be accepted. Do not submit your work directly to us, only by filling out the ballots linked above.
3. Why is the competition named 2016 when we are in 2017 and it is being held in 2017?
This is because the year we are covering in this competition is 2016. For a fanfic to be nominated it has to have been written during this time period, either because it was first posted in 2016 or it was updated during that year. The competition will always cover a complete year and that is why the title date doesn’t match with our current date.
4. How do I nominate fanfics in another language?
This year we have added 6 categories for foreign language fics: Spanish, French and German in the general section and the same in the mature section. Any fic nominated in one of those languages can only be assigned to those categories.
5. What is a meta-post? I don’t understand what to nominate in this category.

6. How long do I have? When do we vote on the best fics and know the winners?
The dates for the competition timeline can be found HERE.
7. The ballots have so many categories. I don’t think I can fill it in, I don’t know that many fics.
You do not need to fill in the whole ballot. You can fill in as many or as few categories as you like and you may repeat fics in different categories.
Example: Say your favourite story is rated G has a really good depiction of both Leonardo and Donatello and has great fight sequences. You may nominate that story to all 3 categories in the general section: Most in character Leonardo, Most in-character Donatello and Most Exciting Action/Adventure.
8. If I nominate sfw art that was inspired by an M-rated fanfic, where does it go?
The art nominations will be in the section adequate to the rating of the art piece itself, disregarding the associated fanfic. (we will not link back to the fanfic)

Hello turtle fans! It is nearly time to show our favorite fanfic authors and artists some love!
On February 12th we will be posting two separate links to blank General and Mature Ballots. We have created the blank nomination ballots for you through google docs to make nominating stories quicker and easier. Click the link and the categories will all be listed, then just copy/paste the titles, author and story links you want to nominate into the appropriate spaces.
You do not have to nominate in every category, you can leave some blank.
You do not have to nominate in both the General and Mature sections, and they will be on two separate links.
You may cast one General nomination ballot and one Mature nomination ballot if you want to participate in both. You may nominate your own work in up to 3 categories on each.
So check your favorites lists on your fanfic sites of choice, find your favorite fanart that was based on a fanfic or that inspired one, your favorite fan comics, Tumblr meta posts and AMVs (animated music videos) on utube.
The best part? As long as you nominate fanworks in the proper categories, NONE OF YOUR NOMINATIONS WILL NEED TO BE CUT FROM THE FINAL BALLOTS. From the cutest chibi fic to the naughtiest erotica, there is a spot for everything.

New Fanfic Comp - TMNT Universal Fanfic Competition
With a new year just around the corner, we are proud to announce a new TMNT fanfic competition - the TMNT Universal Fanfiction Competition! :)
“There are already TMNT fanfic comps out there,” you may think. “What’s so new about this one?” Well, first off, we want to include all kinds of fanfics of all kinds of ratings, dealing with all kinds of topics. It’s going to be, well, universal. ;)
Of course it wouldn’t be fair to have a fanfic suitable for all ages compete with a very explicit one dealing with violence. So we decided to split it up, and each part is going to have its own categories and its own ballot for nominating and later on for voting.

Yes, you read that right. We are going to include fanfics in other languages than English, but we have to keep it to Spanish, German, and French. That’s something completely new. Also, we decided to think outside the box and give you the chance to nominate other amazing things made by fans like fanarts, meta, etc. (More details will follow when we explain all the categories in an extra post.)
We do realize that mature and erotica fanfics are not everybody’s cup of tea, so we are going to use the following tags for posts dealing with these: #universal comp mature and #universal comp erotica. That way, you can block these tags and won’t risk to stumble over something you don’t want to see while still following our blog.
We’ll give you more information on the rules, dates, and anything you need to know. In the meantime, to a new fanfic competition! Cheers! Let’s make it a good one. :)

Now that the competition is officially done, I want to send out a special thank you to the people that helped make the idea for this competition a reality. My goal was to create a competition for writers who like to tackle the taboo, the violent, the dark and twisted or the soft and sexy side of our favorite fandom, and everything in between, without censorship. Rules yes, very specific categories and a split ballot to help readers find or avoid content, but overall a fun and exciting competition to honor the writers that tend to be left behind in mainstream fanfic.
This was the first time I had attempted anything like this, and there were bumps along the way, so thank you SO MUCH for your help, organization, input, support and time. Hugs and sincere thank yous to @andrea-odown, @koalagriton, @belatedbeliever1127, @firebirdscratches, @dorkjitsu, @thenovusordoseclorum and Duz.
