I’ve been thinking a lot about Long After Dark.
I’ve been listening to it almost every day recently. A lot of people consider it the album when Tom realized he didn’t like his marriage and didn’t want to be in it anymore. Warren Zanes points this out with lyrics from Straight Into Darkness (which is one of my favorite TPATH songs of all time).
But I don’t see anyone notice the lyrics of Finding Out. The whole song is about “finding out what love is about”. But literally it contains the lyrics “I’ve had enough of all this hard-core loneliness. I don’t think pain is so romantic. “

What is the status on Tom's health? First reports said he passed then it was reported he was alive?
Hi, sorry for the late response.
He passed away last night, around 8:00pm. Based on what I know, he was brain dead in the hospital, and they took him off life support yesterday afternoon, which is when they first announced he had passed. However, that wasn’t entirely accurate, as he was technically still alive. This tweet from the official Tom Petty Twitter clarifies things.
