K I wanna butt in with some thoughts on Petscop 23 and FTM Paul. Like, the series culminating in Care getting put in the machine, Paul playing the instrument "wrong" which seems to thwart Marvin/his father's creepy plans for her, Care getting put into an egg and left in a location symbolizing the past as Paul leaves with Belle. Like, I know it's very layered and interpretable but damn did the potential trans allegory lens stick out to me hard.

yes!!! the counselor asking for paul’s name after he didn’t answer to the old one, him being dragged towards the GiRL mural, the wrong melody being called “paul’s melody” (while the one marvin wanted was “care’s melody” iirc), literally the whole egg being red for paul/yellow for care (nevermind that egg is a trans term for those who haven’t realized they’re trans).

petscop to me is a story about a trans man making peace with his past, his trauma, and leaving behind the family that always put him in boxes, be it Care A or Lina Leskowitz. he’s finally who he wants to be, he plays his own song, and then goes on with his found family who loves him as he is :,))
