oof i missed auditions for the solo on one of our songs and i lost the chance to take a video for auditioning. idk if im disappointed or glad? one, a solo would cause me a shit ton of anxiety and two, i absolutely hate how the solo sounds. were playing this is me from the greatest showman and it sounds more like?? a ballad?? i really hate this version it is not akjdsfalk goOD. i wish we would’ve had a different slow song but hH

when our local cryptic trumpet player (there’s always one of them in there, ykno, the one that is extremely talented, emotionless and says the weirdest shit and is slightly passive aggressive) went in and when we peeked inside the band room through the window all the staff were laughing and seemed really confused and disappointed. the brass director had his head down in his arms shaking his head like “oh god w hy”

mm rant time. all the kids in upper bands r like “omg i miss freshman band sm” and im just dude i want out my section except maybe another person or 2 actually cares about the music and being good. ya its less serious but i want to be serious i want to be serious about music and i want to be serious about being good and i swear half these kids dont even give a shit. ik theres those kids who do band for the credit and just do it for band and nothing else but theres also me, a musician striving to be a better musician.

im also really salty about those higher up instrument kids who r like “ugh i want the solo(s) so bad!!!!” but dont care about anything else and just want the solo.

this kid kept bothering us in our sectional today and i hated it bc all together we sound bad because no one fucking cares. there’s a fat like? 2 maybe 3 of us who actually care and now we just sound like shit and uncommitted and im tired of being like “okay we should rehearse” bc i don’t wanna hear why the fuck a girl’s pregnant like good for her? bad for her? anyway we have better things to do im afraid. 

ya were in freshman band and we’re supposed to suck but like? we can also not? suck? if we try? the trombones rehearse so well together and care about their music and im just like “wh-why can’t we be like them” bc if a section sounds bad and doesn’t rehearse properly people are going to think EVERYONE is bad and doesnt give a shit

one wind ensemble horn player is going around having peeps sign a petition so we can get mellophones for next year and im kinda hyped. ive always wanted to play mellophone. i mean ive always been a woodwind player and prolly always will be and honestly i dont think my bd would even let me play one but 🤷

hah i told one of my friends who wants to join color guard that 75% of the color guard are lesbians and he was half shocked half disappointed and tbh i was surprised like why isnt this a well known fact

vibrates im scared too bc it was a leadership meeting. and people are anticipating me to try out. i mean the interview is five fucking minutes but the outcome might be much bigger. every show there will be a flute solo somewhere in the show. and guess who gets to play it? section leader!!!

im not the biggest “leader” in the world but i want to learn despite the anxiety. i know how to step up when i need to in certain situations but as section leader i would need to always be on that upper step!!!

im bad at listening for flat or sharp notes, i know when a note is not in tune but i cant tell when its sharp or flat. i also need to work on keeping time and i have absolutely no experience in conducting a group, whether its big group or a small group of nine other flute players.

ill most likely try out but im just suuuuuuuuper nervous bc what happens if i do become section leader????? hhhhhhhhhA
