CBSE vs ICSE - Pros and Cons of Choosing CBSE or ICSE Board
CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) are two most recognized boards that have their own merits and de-merits which are mentioned below:
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
CBSE is one of the main education boards in India who conduct final examination for 10th and 12th class students. The Central Board of Secondary Education is an autonomous body working under the Ministry of HRD and is responsible for conducting IIT-JEE and AIPMT exams, which serve as entrance exams for admission to the various undergraduate engineering courses.
Pros:
The CBSE syllabus is easier as compared to that of the other boards because of the more compact structure and standardized textbooks.
Widely available schools under this curriculum
All major competitive examinations like IIT-JEE and AIPMT are based on the CBSE syllabus.
A certificate from the Central Board of Secondary Education is recognized throughout the country, in all colleges and academic centres. The syllabus is more application based under CBSE, as the board follows a concentric curriculum.

Lesser number of subjects as compared to ICSE
More theoretical approach
Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)
The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education was first established by the Local Examinations Syndicate of the University of Cambridge. The syllabus followed by ICSE schools is different from that followed in CBSE schools, mainly in terms of content and volume.
Pros:
ICSE syllabus is more comprehensive and complete.
More focus on practical learning than in CBSE
Certification under the ICSE board will be recognized by foreign schools and universities.
Cons:
Curriculum considered to be tougher and more vast than CBSE
More number of subjects as compared to CBSE
