Sora's Birthday Gathering for @chivalryburdened
_____
This experience felt so new, so strange. Almost frightening. She couldn't remember the last time she had set foot somewhere that wasn't Germa territory. So strange to be some place where her husband's leash wasn't bound around her throat.
How funny that this had all happened on this day of days.
It had been beyond startling to lie listlessly in her bed. Wasting away another pointless birthday in her flower covered prison. The sourful promise of her husband's appearance scheduled for some time that day. She didn't care. Had stopped caring to see that man long ago. What was there to care about as she stared blankly into the swirled seed pattern in the face of a sunflower?
Cosette had promised her cake and her delicious pasta today! She hoped it came soon. She had no interest in sharing a single morsel of her celebration meal with that man...
Suddenly, the bedroom door to her suite burst open. Startled, she had looked up expecting to see Judge appearing in a fit of rage. She most certainly had NOT been expecting to see Cosette letting a green-haired man and a orange-haired woman into her room. The chef had told the queen not to be frightened just before Sora was scooped up into the swordsman's impressively strong arms.
What happened next was simply CHAOS!
She was taken aboard a very strange looking pirate ship as said pirates waged war on Germa, Cosette holding her hand and whispering reassurances the whole time. Sora didn't bother to struggle. What could happen to her that was possibly worse than her meaningless forced existence on Germa?
She had to admit she was surprised to find herself settled into a private room in the ship. Sat carefully on a bed next to a window. A small reindeer-looking child quickly taking her vitals and tending to her bruised flesh. Oh, when had those gotten there? Had Judge left them? Curious.
She didn't see Cosette once settled in the room. The tiny child did give her a glass of water. The sight of it pulled a laugh, crystal and clear, from Sora for the first time in ages. The glass of chilled water had "Happy Birthday" haphazardly printed across it!
What a funny coincidence! The universe must be playing tricks on her.
A smile fixed itself on her face as she took a sip of cool water. Lemon. How delightful!
A commotion at the door draws her attention. The orange-haired girl is back and is shoving a blond young man into the room. Hands sprout from the wall and deposit a plate with a cupcake atop it into the blond's hands. Sora, still sipping, innocently drifts her gaze to the man's face. She stares into the depths of a brilliant blue eye that is topped by extremely familiar swirled eyebrow.
The very sight of it crashes Sora's reality to a startling halt. The amusing glass slips from her frail hands. Spilling chilled contents all across her lap, soaking into her blankets and gown. Water dropping down her chin from her mouth held agape. She's frozen, trembling. Gathering moisture in her eyes blurring out the vision before her as the most guttural, animalistic, distressed sob rips from her throat.
