Oh my god. How could he reply to that? Toro can feel the way his mouth opens, shock and blatant embarassment on his features-- he imagines the look to be comical at the least, with flushed cheeks and wide eyes. Here he is, with his best friends son sitting in his lap, and the kid is making jokes? It’s enough to make him want to call off everything and possibly, maybe, go back to church and confess his horrible sins before god and any father that might listen.

No. It certainly wasn’t time to think about fathers at that moment. “Christ--” he tightens his grip on Steve’s hips. “Please...Don’t you dare say that ever again.
