Purgatory, Dean was learning, wasn't without perks. He got to kill to his hearts content, and he didn't feel hunger, thirst, or much fatigue despite being the only thing alive for miles. He wasn't sure if Castiel counted in that regard, but the coward fled with his life and Dean was still angry with him.
The downside, anything with fangs, claws, and an unyielding desire for human flesh came after him without care. Dean had lost count of the days he'd been trapped here, but every one he spent looking for Castiel. He was going to get out, and that cowardly angel would come with him one way or another.
Another day, another monster to kill. He avoided them as much as possible, but with their heightened senses he couldn't get away often. This time it was a pack of wolves, clumsy and reckless. Dean fought back with everything in him, and he managed to take down three of the five with ease. The fourth proved to be trouble, so he'd knocked out the fifth to deal with him. Or so he thought.
While dealing the killing blow the last member of the wolf pack was sneaking up behind him, attempting to take him out with a blade to the throat. Dean, busy beating the fourth wolf to death with a rock, hadn't noticed. He was open, vulnerable to attack without the time to defend himself. At the last moment he heard a twig snap, and turned just in time to see a hand sticking out of the wolf's chest. A bloodied and clawed hand, gripping a heart in it's palm.
"You want a go at me too?" Dean drawled, turning back to the wolf who's chest he was still straddling. "Give me a minute to bash this one's brains in and it'll be an even fight." The rock in his hand was brought down against the wolf's skull, and it broke with a sickening crack, hot blood spilling out on the ground. Dean stood then, grabbing his fallen blade before turning to the beast that aided him. "Shall we go a round then? Don't expect to have much better a fate then your buddies though."
