I turned 20 last week. To some it’s not a hugely significant age, but to me it’s a new chapter in one’s life. Being no longer a teenager and standing on the awkwardly placed edge of my twenties, I thought I’d copy my darling friend (and author for this blog) Elsie and make 20 post-20 resolutions.
1. To Not Be So Lazy: Being at University has given me a case of lazy-student-syndrome. I’d like to change that.
2. To Not Lie in Bed So Much: As I am no longer a teenager, I am no longer qualified to do this.
3. To Write More: It’s what I love, it’s what I do, it’s what I intend to do, it’s what I need to do more of.
4. To Get Out More: London is a beautiful place, it’s worth making the most of it.
5. To Read More: Books are brilliant. I’ve got plenty of them, some of which I’ve never read. A match made in heaven.
6. To See Friends More: I’ve been blessed with some wonderful people in my life, wonderful people are worth seeing.
7. To Stress Less: Some things aren’t meant to be stressful, so why bother getting worked up over them?
8. To Keep Notebooks Tidier: Notebooks are best when they’re aesthetically pleasing…so it’s worth making an effort to keep them that way.
9. To Not Buy Unnecessary Stationary: I don’t need 100 sticky labels, a notebook the size of a hymn book or a fountain pen.
10. To Continue To Be Micro-Ambitious: Considering the next worthy pursuit is likely to be in one’s periphery, it’s a good idea not to focus too far into the future. Short term goals and an awareness of the shiny thing in the corner of your eye.
