Now that I remember, does that change anything? I never truly forgot, just sort of ignored.
I put my abuse on a shelf. I needed it out of my mind so that I could function - and survive.
It’s strange ... remembering all of this now.
Why now? I’m happy now. So why is it haunting my dreams? Why can’t I move on? I don’t want to know all of this ... is it even real or are they nightmares?
They feel real.. they scare me.
I still feel distant from those situations that caused me pain. I remember bits and pieces of those years, bits and pieces of abuse -sexual or otherwise- but it’s all so hazy. It feels like a bad dream.
Maybe one day you will realize that what you did to me was absolutely not okay.
