Thoughtful review of an outstanding concert series.

Waiting on some late night spicy chicken in a Hong Kong style restaurant in my hood in Shenzhen China. Sort of presented my life story (pics & audio) to the HAXLR8R crew today. Fun but scary/vulnerable. These folks ain't the academic musicians & artists I'm used to hanging with.

What was on your mind when you took the pictures at Fairy Lake Botanical garden? You look deeply serious.

In the midst of working very hard here in Shenzhen and always being surrounded by people, I needed a day to myself, just walking, out in nature.  It was a great day, just what I sought.  I took those shots of myself at the end of the day when I was pretty tired, having walked many miles.  My ankle, broken in October, is still healing and was quite swollen and in a bit of pain by that point.  However, there's something else.

I am always deeply aware of how my facial expression, body language, and tone of voice affect the people around me.  I'm always managing that; I rarely turn it off around people I know.  As an introvert, that constant management of other people's reactions can be exhausting.  In these pictures, I may have been tired, but I was in a great mood—pleasantly worn out you might say.  However, there was no one around to make faces for; I was just relaxed.

If I look deeply serious, maybe one could say it's because at heart I'm a deeply serious person.  That seems reasonable.  Or, since you know me pretty well, maybe "relaxed" only reads as "deeply serious" in contrast with the way I usually manage my body language around friends.
