Just had the realizashun that in chapter 87, Atsushi’s complete trust in Akutagawa came in two stages. It’s easy to understand that he only trusted Akutagawa wouldn’t kill him because he knew Akutagawa didn’t want to disappoint Dazai, but on top of that there is this: 

Atsushi realised that Akutagawa trusted him first by teling him a part of himself he hadn’t told anyone else before. Without this step, he probably wouldn’t have thought far enough ahead to consider what Akutagawa meant by not affording to disappoint Dazai-san.
