Things that help me feel more feminine & calm
This is inspired by the anon ask I got, I decided to make a list of what helps me personally feel better so others may try it too. Just remember what may make me feel this way may not be the same for you, we are all unique and find comfort and calmness in many different ways!
Sitting outside - Just sitting on the grass, letting the breeze move my hair around, and watching the sky or butterflies fly around makes me feel so content and at peace with myself.
Taking bubble baths - Having a nice warm bubble bath with some music from the 50s playing along with a nice book or cup of tea makes me feel just like a movie star in a way, it makes me feel like Iām the glamorous woman in a movie scene and it is honestly so fun to pretend you are in a movie.
Reading a good book - My personal favourite book at the moment is āgrace not perfectionā by Emily Lee and honestly it has changed my life, it made me feel so at peace and take time with myself and my feminity. Find a book that makes you feel that way.
Painting my nails - Just giving my nails a simple clear coat of polish changes the way I carry myself, it makes me feel so delicate and gentle.
Skin care - Just taking your time and learning what your skin likes and dislikes feels so wonderful. Every morning I wake up, brush my teeth, and then slowly start my skin care routine. I take my time for each section of my face and body, I look at my freckles and blemishes and just smile knowing that I am taking good care of myself.
Exercise - This is probably the most typical response but exercising helps me feel so much more calm, it gets all that extra energy or anger out and makes me feel like I can do anything. Even doing something like going for a walk or doing yoga can make you feel much better than before.
Meditation - I have mentioned meditation in the past but it has personally changed my life, I personally use the app āStop, Breathe & Thinkā and it is so amazing. Just being able to close my eyes and breathe makes me feel so much better, I personally reccomend meditating outside or by a window to just let the sunlight glow on you and make you feel at peace. Even if you are sceptical about meditation just take a few minutes out of your day to sit in a comfortable spot or lay down and close your eyes and breathe, accept all thoughts in your head and let them ease away before focusing on love and kindness, wish for love and kindness for someone who makes you filled with joy, wish for love and kindness for someone you barely know, wish for love and kindess for someone you may be upset with even if it is something small like wishing them a good day, then wish love and kindness upon yourself. It helps me out a lot when I feel like I am about to yell at someone.
Writing - Having a journal or a book with just your thoughts can keep your mind at ease, I never knew how much this would help me until I decided to journal for a week and it helps so so much. It helped me find some calmness knowing I could explain my unflitered emotions without a single ounce of worry or judgement because I am putting it down on paper. If you do not have time to do this or simply dislike writing I reccomend recording yourself talking about your day, just let it all out, then listen to it back if you want, and then delete it. You can save it but I personally delete it to have clear mind and phone.
Food and water - I cannot stress this enough but eat and drink! We can become grumpy and irritable if we are hungry or thirsty, try to incorperate fruits and vegetables into your diet. Even if it is in a small way like adding an apple with your lunch or having a side salad with dinner or having a smoothie at breakfast, it makes a bigger difference than we realize. If you are one who drinks lots of coffee or tea or soda try to cut back and replace it with some water or some flavoured sparkling water, if you just tend to forget to drink water throughout the day I reccomend eating your water intake. Yes, eating your water intake. Certain fruits and vegetable contain a lot of water for example watermelon contains 92% water content, strawberries contain 91% water content, cucumbers contain 95% water content, and lettuce contains 96% water content, just adding fruits and vegetables with high water contents into your diet can make a huge difference so I reccomend googling it and adding even a few onto your grocery lists.
Hair & makeup - Doing my hair in a cute hairstyle, adding a bow, and just having a bit of lipgloss on my lips changes my mood completely. I feel so beautiful and elegant even if I am just wearing sweat pants and a tank top, you donāt have to go all out everyday just do a hairstyle you wanted to try or a makeup look you always thought was pretty but were terrified to try. Experiment and have fun!
Clothes - Honestly putting on a cute dress or a pair of heels makes me feel like Iām in gone with the wind or the sound of music, it puts a huge boost in my step and makes me feel more just gentle. You do not need to do this every day or every week just do it once and see how you feel, see how your confidence changes even if you are just at home.
Old movies or tv shows - Nothing inspires me to be more feminine than old movies and tv shows, just seeing the fashion and the way they act makes me feel just more graceful and want to try it. Watch a time period tv show focused on romance or an old movie that you used to love, make it into a day of reading old books and watching old movies.
Cleaning - Honestly cleaning makes me feel wonderful especially if I put on 50s music or folk music, it just feels like Iām dancing my mess away. Take time to make your home into a home youāre proud of and feel love whenever you look around, remember when cleaning āyes it looks pretty but how does it make me feel?ā, putting out things that fill you with joy instead of matching your aesthetic makes a huge difference.
Cooking - Bake some cookies, make breakfast, bake bread, prepare lunch, just cook. Spend time with each step and put on an apron as you do so, open up the windows as you cook and let the fresh air in as the smell of your cooking fills your home. Experiment with flavours and new recipies you have never tried before, remember that even if it doesnāt taste great that you tried and will now be able to improve it next time because guess what you tried!
Laundry - Just taking time to wash and organize my clothes makes me happy, fold your clothes slowly, organize your closet, go through your old clothes, find clothes you love, and just take care of your things. Even making your bed may make you feel better and your room look better!
