this blog is basically just a place for me to do #religionposting off main as i figure out my faith.

i was born and raised catholic, attended catholic school for seven years, and was confirmed at 14. i spent much of high school fighting God off and running from faith. (as i call it, i tried to atheism myself for a good four years. it didn't work.) Pope Francis' death sent me spiraling on my faith and i've landed here. ostensibly catholic, deeply imperfect & idiosyncratic about it, but full of love. do i believe in God? yes and no and it also doesn't matter. i love Him, i love Christ, i love Creation.

i've always felt a bit in love with the faith, it has deeply shaped the person i am now, and i've been having a (largely) good time exploring it more as i go into adulthood. turns out i love mysticism!

and i am deeply, deeply culturally catholic despite my best efforts in prior years. faith plus works or bust <3

i'm genuinely always thinking about descriptions of faith and religion as something that happens to you more than something you necessarily choose and i understand + respect that those worldviews on faith are uncomfortable for a lot of people but the notion that i don't consent to faith so much as it happens to me regardless is actually quite comforting for me. i always describe faith as something i tried to stave off only for it to be there relentlessly and unwaveringly. maybe god's love feels a bit like noncon but i think it's more cnc than anything else these days.

limit consent is the notion that you can only ever consent to your limits, though you never know them before they're teased-into. there is no consent, then: you can never know the content or feel of your limits before they greet you. they greet you, and not vice versa; you never greet them. fucking, or love itself, tears the rug from you. it is the thwarting, riotous fleshing-out of things. i'm trying to tell you how religion feels. how god feels. you cannot consent to faith, to your limits in faith, to god godself. they know you before you know them
