poem written by me titled after the artist of the painting, which is what this poem is about. “Louise Richards Farnsworth - Blue Shadows”
there are deep shadows where the sun
doesn’t shine.
each canyon and valley lost
to time and space.
there are rich colors where
the light does hit.
you would think all a mountain
could ever be was brown.
and maybe to the untrained eye,
that’s all a mountain is.
peaks hidden beneath clouds,
the vast creation does not
apologize for its nature.
We could learn a thing or two
from the bright and vaster
things in life.
a drunken poem on spirituality assigned by my former college roommate.
transposed:
brown wood
warm counters
pink walls
small memories
danish tradition
rediscovered through
small round pancakes
men in ties retelling stories
mothers, grandmothers,
spiritual leaders are
made,
not typically chosen
by god.
