1. What is Tiger’s Jaw for hip-hop fans who may not know?
Tigers Jaw is the band I was in from when I was 16 until a few years ago. You can just read their wikipedia entry.
2. What got you interested in hip-hop as a genre?
My first favorite songs were Puff Daddy and Biggie songs so it was something I always loved growing up. I wasn’t actively trying to start a rap project or anything, I just wanted to write lyrics to electronic songs…then I somehow got involved with rap producers and artists (through the internet, obviously, probably tumblr) and realized it’s what I wanted to be doing. I was heading that way anyway though, you know?
3. How did you end up linking with Thraxxhouse?
Mackned had asked me to do a song with him, and shortly after that someone else in the group told me that Ned and Key Nyata wanted me in. I had known Cold Hart for a little bit too and he had already joined at the point. I was blessed.
4. Who are some of your favorite producers to work with and why?
I like the songs I’ve done with JAYYEAH, Fantasy Camp, DØVES and Lederrick recently, but it changes from each project…I have beats right now from John Mello and Keyboard Kid that don’t exactly fit for the album I’m working on, but I’m looking forward to releasing them eventually because I think they’re both great. I don’t want to keep naming names for fear of excluding someone major.
5. How did you come up with the name Wicca Phase Springs Eternal?
My friend Clarissa Hennessy came up with it. You can look her up. I think I sent her some early songs and asked her to name the project and that was her first and only suggestion.
