Sarah doesn't hesitate, she pushes her hands out in Sharon's direction. It's a simple movement, but it feels like a herculean task. She feels like a human icicle. She was out there for way too long, waiting for help to arrive. Even though a big part of her was convinced that help was not coming.

It was all wrong. Everything about this mission had gone wrong. It had seemed fine on paper, but she knew something was off from the minute she set foot in that building. Her objective was to obtain data, get in and out without a trace. This facility was operational, it shouldn't have been so quiet inside.

She made her way through the facility quickly, but carefully. Her firearm in hand as she made her way through each uncomfortably quiet hallway. Only to come upon a dead SHIELD agent and a room full of destroyed computers. She lowered her weapon as she approached the agent, she knelt down beside them to check their pulse. She knew she wouldn't find anything, but it didn't feel right to not at least check.

That's when she heard a click, like the shutter of a camera. Her head snapped up, looking for the source. She didn't see anything, but she didn't like the way this was starting to shake out. She got to her feet, getting out of there as fast as her legs could carry her. Only to get back outside and find her ride had been stolen and her getaway driver lying in a pile of red snow.

The nearest town had been too far away to make it on foot. So she sent an SOS and she waited. She waited in a frozen, snow-covered clearing for hours. She tried to stay alert, to stay focused, to stay awake. But the cold got to her eventually.

She came to in the back of a quinjet with a friendly face in her field of vision. She needed to tell her what happened.

"Set." She started, but her voice was weak and she felt her jaw start to chatter when she spoke. She tried to get a handle on it, but she couldn't get it to stop. "Set up."

Because if she looks at herself too closely, she'll realize all the things she's been avoiding. Like the fact that she, herself, is probably not a good person. She's probably not a bad person either. If she's being honest, she's not much of anything. She doesn't believe in much of anything. The version of the world that she's grown up in, the crowds she's mingled in, haven't exactly led her to the believe that goodness prevails.

"It's not like it matters." She says a few seconds later, like it's an afterthought. But it's not, it's something she thinks about more often than she'd like to admit. They've spent the majority of their lives around people who are far from good. People who have agendas, people who only do the job for the sake of their own wants and needs. And they keep winning, they keep succeeding. They're still the ones who get to call the shots after all these years.

Having had a front row seat all these years, it starts to feel like a bit of a lost cause to believe in good. Because she knows that being good rarely gets people anywhere. And no matter what they do, people aren't going to believe they're good anyway. Not after the headlines they've been making these last few years. "We both know good doesn't get you very far."

"Gee, thanks, glad I have your permission" She snaps. Angry isn't usually an emotion that she jumps to. She's been very good at keeping herself on an even keel. It takes a lot to push her over that edge. But finding out your boyfriend doesn't trust you can do that to a girl.

It's a confusing feeling, the one swirling around in her chest right now. Because she understands why he didn't tell her. She'd be a hypocrite to act like she can't understand why he did what he did since she's doing the same thing. But it's different. He's a hero. The Flash. Someone Central City looks up to. That's where they differ.

She swore she wasn't going to use her powers after the first few times. She just needed to figure out how to get a handle on them so she could go back to living her life. But then money got tight, trying to keep up with rent and student loans, and her car needed a few grand in repairs. There was no way she could keep it all up, even with the two jobs she's been working since her roommate moved out of the city.

And then she realized that her powers, this thing she's been convinced was a curse rather than a gift, actually had a few benefits. Like being able to create a convenient scapegoat at the blink of an eye. Posing as criminals to pull off small-time robberies isn't something she's exactly proud of, but she gets the money without the jail time. She hates herself for it a little more each day, but desperate times.

Subtle has never been Barry's forté. As much as he might try, as often as he might practice - it's never really sat well with him. He always ends up fumbling over his words and looks like an absolute idiot. Some people like it, some people don't. She's in the first category, which he's beyond grateful for because it's practically his entire personality.

Hand rubs the back of his neck and he kicks his feet gently at the floor, careful not to make scuff marks. Teeth worry at his lower lip for a moment and then he looks up to meet her eyes, cheeks flushed a deep pink. "I was just- you know- you need a roomie and I need somewhere to stay that isn't with my adopted dad for some privacy- you know." Come on, Bar. You got this.
