At first, stature had not come to her mind. She was often very naive to such things, however, the males words caught her off guard, brows raised in curiosity. She did not understand how he could have not been in such a place? Though, as her mind wandered, it began to make more sense.
“It is quite an eye-opener, some of the families here have quite the estates, it can be a little daunting.” She smiled weakly, pouring him some tea before turning to face him again.
“Aye,” he laughed, “It’s all a bit overwhelming.” It was the truth, of course. He had spent most of his life trapped below deck on a ship sailing from one place to another with a hundred other men, and now he was wearing a cravat and drinking tea in a garden. “I feel out of my depth, I fear. See, I’ve just bought the Londonderry house on Park.” He took a drink of the tea and sighed, “But I’ll admit, I haven’t been in London since I was a boy.” And certainly never around these parts, even then.
