𝓵𝓮𝓽𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓹𝓸𝔀𝓮𝓻𝓹𝓻𝓸𝓽𝓮𝓬𝓽𝔂𝓸𝓾: ♡ the leader
Jason had been a tad bit more silent than before. There was a lot going on in the mind of the leader of the Power Rangers stemming from the fact that joining the military meant no longer doing the thing he loved the most - which was being a Ranger and defending earth.
However, with his father’s cancer taking a turn for the worse, his mother scrambling to keep the house afloat with mounting bills and raising his little sister Molly, it seemed to be the right thing to do. Joining the USMC meant he’d be able to help financially, albeit from a distance, and still defend the country.
For the first month only Zordon, Zack and Rachel knew about his decision to join the military and his pending resignation from the power team. While Zack hated to see him leave he supported him and assured him they would remain best friends no matter the geography. The only thing left was to find a suitable replacement. Richie and a guy from his martial arts team(Rocky DeSantis were contenders for the Tyrannosaurus coin.
Scarlet red t-shirt damped with sweat, lungs huffing for air, sweat beads running from his cheeks, the athlete swallowed a gulp of water from his bottle and joined her on the bench.“ Hey, Rach. I’m alright – just trying to get ready for boot camp. Tommy’s still mad at me for not telling him right away.”
Rachel's gaze followed the outline of his body when Jason approached her and took a spot on the bench with her. She smiled, not fully realizing what he says until the moment of silence has occurred and it hit her that the answer would probably be appreciated.
"Em," her lips parted and she shook her head to wake up back into reality. "Of course, he is." Rachel nodded her head. "You guys," she began as if she wasn't part of the team but that's just how she perceived herself. She wasn't a part of the original six. She was just an added element. Even her color wasn't the primary one. Meaning her power source was created using the particles of Jason and Billy's. Well, not exactly theirs, but historically speaking there's where the purple coin must've come from.
"You guys are like his family. This team is what's given him the true sense of home. And now everyone's leaving, pursuing their own dreams. Things are changing way too quickly, and to be honest, it scares me too." Eventually, Rachel admitted, looking up to meet with Jason's gaze. She wasn't typically the one delving into her feelings openly, and that's probably why they clicked so well, but during the times like this, she felt the need to be open about it because something was telling her there might not be another chance.
"I was contemplating the whole thing, and I don't think I can make it work with the university. Yes, I am still staying in California, but not at Angel Grove. I feel like such a failure." And she honestly did. It actually weighed on her shoulders so much that she had to look to the side because she couldn't bear looking at him.
Fidgeting with her fingers, Rachel tried to find the stable ground under her feet, again. "I cannot help but feel like everything's falling apart beneath my hands. I dunno, maybe I am overacting, but it's so hard to maintain any personal life and yet stay dedicated to our duty. No one prepared us for this, and now I feel as if we were so easily replaceable. I know this planet needs her protectors. I was growing up with Avengers being literally members of my family, but it feels so, I don't know, weird to me. The whole: drop-outs are gone, let's find someone else to fill the void."
