                 there was a moment of silence before aurora responded. she could have argued, of course, but she would have been being stubborn for the sake of it. she supposed there was no harm in letting him see her. it wasn’t suspicious for a member of the family to come and see a new baby, even if luca found out that etienne had come round he would have no reason to suspect anything. finally she nodded and stepped aside to allow him over the doorstep. 

He nodded his head in thanks and stepped over the threshold.  Normally this was when he would flirt with her or make some kind of comment or suggestion that they bang one out before Luca got back, but he doesn’t know where he stands with her anymore and the vibe is fucking weird.  “How are you feeling?” he asks finally, looking around the house as he waited for her to lead the way to wherever the baby was sleeping.

                      aurora eyed the bag for a moment before taking it hesitantly, as if he were playing some kind of joke on her. “how thoughtful of you.” she commented as she took out the bracelet, inspecting it before she looked back at him and arched an eyebrow. “she’s asleep right now. maybe you should come back another time.” preferably when luca was home and so he couldn’t broach the subject of mila’s questionable paternity. 

Etienne pursed his lips and willed himself to stay calm,  taking a deep breath a moment later as he looked at Aurora.  “Listen.  I told you before all of this that I’m not going to get in the way of you and Luca raising her and I’m not.  I just... I need to see her,” he told her, then met her gaze.  “Please.”  He didn’t ask for things much.  Usually Etienne was more dignified than this, but he’d never had a baby girl before and if Mila was his, he wanted to at least know her.
