littlevaudeville: So, with this song it starts of with Sherrie’s parents singing a few bars of the song. And the song is a rock ballad, so I see the artistic approach to it by the book writer. And Kate is going to do that sassy “I have something planned” thing, same goes with Carrie. But with Lauren; however, that strip poker face on and says the line “I’ll get a job!”

The best part of this scene is when they reintroduce Drew Boley into the picture; of course, Jeremy is going to do that macho lanacho thing. Slicking back his hair or something like that, but it’s Constantine’s delivery of the “want a slurpee line?” that gets me everytime. And Sherrie goes “yeah.” And Drew goes “is cherry ok?” And Sherrie goes “I love cherry!” And that ends the scene Drew singing a line.

heiressofthestage: So, in the movie, there’s no slurpee scene to obsess over, but Sherrie’s hair and clothes. Also, there’s the whole I’m just going to fucking walk out of the house and go west young lady routine that’s going on with Sherrie. ‘Cause holy shit your parents is just going to bring you down, so why not. Walk, then there’s the whole thing that Carrie does and that everyone can do is that. She does this power stand thing and looks at Sherrie’s parents and says the whole “I’ll get a job” line, before actually, leaving the land of the Christians and heading for Los Angeles. And this is coming from someone, who has seen the movie version twice, and has seen the musical in Vegas. But enough of me, let’s carry on with Sherrie. So, Sherrie just arrived in Los Angeles and Drew sees her. Drew kind of just gives her the look, before offering her a beverage. Slurpee. A nice cold slurpee. She just says “yeah” like a lovesick puppy, then he replies “is cherry ok?”. She goes “I love cherry,” then he goes “me too.” She goes “no way,” then he goes “I say no way.” Then, the scene ends with Drew singing “and it don’t get better than that!”

kathyethelisms: The scene starts of with Sherrie leaving her parents house, then heading her way to L.A. on a bus in the 80s with a bad-ass hairdo and a big ass fucking dream, which spoiler alert: she gets it in the movie but doesn’t get it in the stage version. Also, the red cherry slurpee scene is the “I dig you. Do you dig me?” kind of approach to asking a girl out on a date, which is cute and pathetic at the same time. Sorry, Drew Boley!
