H: Ikaw nga hindi na bumalik sakin eh.

She’s a mess. She could be laughing her heart out one moment and then be completely silent the next. She apologizes for being too much and yet, she thinks she’s never enough. Her mind is a dark place she doesn’t want anyone else to visit because she knows how ugly and terrifying it is. But oh, when she loves, she loves so very deeply even the oceans get jealous.

Here’s to the many more months we have to come, the children we will love and the adventures, whether here or on the other side of the world that we will continue to have together.

I will hold you tight because for someone so young, you have been through so much. You experienced the most disturbing things and abandonment by those who should have loved you the most. You spent years in relationships that made you believe you were worth nothing and deserved nothing. People told you every day of your life that you were worthless, and I cannot even imagine surviving the things you have told me without it totally destroying me. But you did. Even when it reached the point where you thought you could take it no longer and you jumped, you survived and walked miles home despite being physically broken inside.

I barely knew you even after almost two years that we’re together. I’ve talked to you once but when you knew I went home to see my family, you gave up everything at least not for me, but for yourself. You broke up with her. We started talking again. Within a few days you told me you liked me and within a few weeks you told me you loved me. I told you that I loved you back and I meant it. I never had someone before that have the capacity to love, and love me with such gentleness, sincerity and devotion despite what you have been through, which astounds me completely.

I will never let go of your hand because you and I both know that this is what people search for their entire lives and we found it quite by chance and had never hoped for it. I’d resigned myself to some eventual relationship that would be comfortable and convenient but instead I found you and now my days are filled with excitement, passion, humor and most of all overpowering, unending love.

The only time you have ever made me cry is when you left me at the airport because you need to go home after a visit. Even though I knew we would be seeing each other again, I never stopped crying. Even with this distance, it was like the whole world understood and knew that this was real. It was and now, a long time on from then, it still is.

You are my home, you feed me because I am hopeless and I’ll go dance for you in the kitchen because it’s the only skill I can offer.
