Don’t most people care what teachers think? I mean, I don’t care as much as a sneaky brown-noser or anything, but I care enough to want to pass school and not have very many detentions. Is that show still on? I lost track after winner number like, seven, but I keep waiting for the day when one of our classmates competes and everybody goes nuts. I’m sure you’ll have daughters? You and Melanie seem like the type to have a bunch of kids, Blake started a betting ring on the number ages ago. Really? What does your theme song sound like? Um… sure, I guess, but I can’t see your girlfriend really thinking it was very funny, and isn’t prom about you and her and not what everyone else thinks? I mean, my sister asked for a private promposal and everything, but Tim’s still doing something to make it special for her.

Not me! I’m gonna pass school anyway, no one ever really flunks of out Auradon Prep, do they? And if I did, my dad wouldn’t care, I’d find a job, and everything would be fine anyway - people take this school stuff way too seriously. And detentions are fun! It’s like extra time to hang with the crew. I honestly don’t even know, I haven’t watched Auradonian Idol since like season two, but I hear they raised the entry age to 18 lately so we’ll see someone on there soon enough probably! There’s a baby pool? I want in on the odds! What’s the popular vote for the number right now? Oh, the Lost Boys theme song is just our Lost Boys chant but then we add a drop and start with some EDM music, it’s awesome! I’d let you hear it sometime but you have to join to know it, it’s one of those top secret LB things. Beast, I didn’t think I’d count you among the many that took prom too seriously! Does everyone just get uncool when they grow up?

People didn’t like us the way we were before, they kept telling us we were doing love wrong, but now that other people think we’re doing better it’s like you think we’re worse! What can I do to make you happy? To prove that we’re still fine, and it’s not Halloween, it’s just us and we’re still great being us no matter what? I want you to be happy too, though. Sometimes it’s more fun than actually playing the game! Not always, or even often, but sometimes, at least to me. The two MVPs kicking it cas style, alright! I just hope you know that I reaaally want you guys to win prom royalty now, even if you don’t think you would - imagine how hilarious it’d be if the prom king and queen were dressed in sweatpants in the yearbook and in the photos in the hall? It’d be epic!

I think you two are sweet together, you know; people have always criticized your relationship but it made the two of you happy and that seemed like the most valuable aspect of it. Are you sure? I do hate the idea of upsetting anyone. Have you tried telling Melanie the kind of love you need from her? Talking does seem uncomfortable, but if it all leads to one big fight in the end, well – wouldn’t you rather have a few smaller fights along the way? People are always saying it’s so romantic to fight for what you care about, fighting certainly can’t always be wrong. I am? Fantastic! I hope there are more people than just me under your protection, though. She does have a lovely singing voice; maybe she just finally decided she had a project worth working on? She and Mason are so talented, it really was a shame to limit them to just cheerleading as far as extracurriculars go. I just… wasn’t sure if perhaps you were hoping Melanie would break up with you? So that you don’t have to feel like you’re the one at fault for hurting her, if your relationship is going to end? I’m sorry, that’s silly, that can’t possibly be it, I don’t know why I’d even think such a thing.

...Thanks, Cassie. That’s, like, the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me about us. I don’t want it to lead to any fights at all! You’re like the least upsetting person on the planet. In fact, you’re kind of the only one making me feel better right now, like for real better instead of just fake smile better, so if there’s anyone else you want protected from the Lost Boys, I’ll allow you to name three others. I want it to be the way it was before, when we just knew what the other wanted without talking about it necessarily and just...being perfect together! Now that we’re farther from that, though, I’m kind of scared looking back that maybe we were never perfect together and we were both just really good at anticipating and caving at the right times to keep it happy which makes me feel dead inside, but it’s all good! I meaaan, if you don’t want to think it’s suspicious that she randomly chose to do a musical when her brother/appendage got a girlfriend, that’s fine! I’d recommend watching her at prom, though; I know if Melanie spends more attention on Stella than me next year I’d cause a scene, so that could be clues to see if she’s more upset than she’s letting on. I hope she isn’t, if anyone deserves a happy story here in Auradon, it’s you. I...I don’t know. I don’t want Melanie and I to break up, but I don’t like the way it feels right now and if...I think it’d be better if she dumped me, maybe, but I hate that I’m even thinking about it! Dang it, woman, how do you see into my soul like this?!

You really feel as though they’re comparing all of the couples? I figured now that King Will was in a happy relationship, that was just viewed as the standard by all, and there wasn’t much intense debate about other relationships in the kingdom… I guess that was naive of me to assume, though. Well, Mason and I aren’t quite as official and couply as you and Melanie are; perhaps Harry can relate to the uncertain limbo stage better? I’m sorry, Trevor, I really wasn’t trying to cause any offense. But your life should be a happy one! Auradon’s all about us all being loved and happy and safe, and you’ve seemed a bit mopey lately – don’t worry, I only knew because I was looking for the signs, I’m sure other people are more fooled if you want them to be. She’s seemed very excited about the possibility of the musical, which is something that Madison’s never done before? And she wanted to go with me to a concert – well, it was my idea, but she still went and it was nice! Do you want her to get sick of you? Maybe… no, no, never mind, that’s too horrible to even say out loud.

Of course I feel it! You hear stuff, you know, like people not wanting to seem like a Trevor, and what is that if it’s not comparing? I guess it’s chiller now but I dunno, I’m starting to think grown ups can never really get all the way chill. Who knows? I don’t. I’m a kid, I have zero answers. You didn’t cause any offense, Cassie, relax. I’m just being me. I am loved! In a way. Not as much as I’m used to being loved, but it’s probably more love than a lot of people get anyway so I should just be grateful for it and I remind myself of that whenever I start feeling mopey which, yeah, is probably pretty often, but what else can I do, Cassie? Talking about it is weird,  fighting it is wrong, and just....just gotta go with the flow, you know? If you’re scared of the Lost Boys targeting you for pranks, don’t worry, we won’t; you’re forever on all the good lists. Madison being way too interested in the musical could be like me getting way too into my pranks... or it could be an invested cheerleader! Sorry I don’t know how left out she’s feeling, but if you’re scared you’re edging her out, maybe more Cassie/Madison hang outs should be a thing? If she turns those down, though, she probably definitely doesn’t want to spend time with you, which is a sign! What? I don’t ...what, Cassie? What’s too horrible? What were you gonna ask? I was going for accuracy but metal works too, if that’s what you consider hardcore. I personally don’t get the headbanging scene but you go ahead and try it, little guy, see how it works for you. Uh, no way, I’d rather win because I’m good, and anyway your boobs flop around too much unless you wear sports bras, which squish them and kind of eliminate the wow factor. Well, I found someone who encouraged me to be a prom slob, so maybe I’ll be there after all – I can report back if the prom police try to stop me going in just because I’m not all formal. The crossfire sounds hilarious, though, make sure I don’t bail on prom before I see it.

So not one of those win-at-all-cost gals. Interesting. I’ve always kinda thought a win was a win, but I guess when you get so many wins, you can be picky about how you earn them! Prom slob, yes! Prom needs more slobs - who are you going casual Friday with?? I have zero clue if there’s a dress code but I’m sure you can get past a bouncer if there is one. Do high school proms have bouncers??? Or prom police, for that matter, which would’ve been a fun epic prank had I not already picked one out. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you see it. It’s going to be legen-dary...but like, quick check, no chance you’re going to win prom queen, right? Just making sure.

What? I’m still the same old Melanie I was before, you can ask Stella – my personality hasn’t changed just because I have another friend now too! Do you really not recognize me anymore? I mean, I’m excited for you to try new things and have other hobbies too but I still want you to be the same Trevor that I love. Sewing isn’t that fun when I do it but it’s really fun when I see the final result, if that counts. That was different! We tried too hard; this time we can just introduce people and not keep pushing it if they don’t like each other. But we don’t know until we try! 

Private: Why should I ask Stella? Stella didn’t even know you before, but I did! I knew you best and now I don’t know if that’s true anymore, and I don’t know if it’s because your personality changed or because someone else gets to know you more than I do, but I don’t recognize you as much. It’s like you’re Melanie in a Halloween costume. It’s still you, there’s just other...stuff. Sorry, bleh, that was too much. Of course I still recognize you. You’re Melanie, I’m Trevor, we’re Trevanie, duh. I don’t wanna walk around wearing it, it’s itchy and it makes my teachers think I’ve been doing weird stuff during free period, I bet. I’ve grown up around girls, believe me, even if the stuff they’re doing seems boring, they don’t think it is. Gwen and Zoe have never seemed bored in their entire lives. Everyone always says that and then they talk about having stuff on as background noise all the time, it’s not the kind of movie you need to pay a lot of attention to. Is it not gonna happen? It seems like the kind of thing you guys would be really into.

Doing weird stuff with glitter beats doing weird stuff without glitter! But who cares what teachers think? Except Grumpy, because getting a smiley face from him is like getting a Yes from Simon on Auradonian Idol, but otherwise teachers kinda stink and should be treated like all smelly grown ups. That...is really weird and kinda makes me hope I have daughters someday to see the Girls Never Get Bored phenomenon all for myself. So American Pie as background noise? I usually use epic soundtracks as my background noise - Hank made us a Lost Boys theme song that’s totally jamming! - but I’ll give it a whirl. Eh. I don’t know. Things change, Prince Zac - and besides, think how epic it would be to have all that prom buildup and have everyone excepting it and...nothing! The prank of he century, some might say.

You’re… welcome? I wish people didn’t draw so many comparisons; all couples are different, and I’ve learned first hand that comparing people and ranking one as ‘more suitable’ than the other can be very damaging to a persons self esteem when it turns out not to even be true after all. No, no, that’s quite all right; it’s not close enough to prom yet for me to be worried that it’s not going to happen. I’ll give him a bit more time and then broach the subject with him, or maybe ask Harry first for his male perspective on these kinds of things. Not that I don’t value yours, but well, spitballs are a bit unnecessary is all! I wish I knew how to help you feel the way that I do, too, but I suppose it’s different since you had Melanie all to yourself for so long. In fact, that almost makes me wonder if perhaps Madison doesn’t feel the same way about me that you feel about Stella… Beast, I hope not! How do I find out for sure? Do you think you’re giving off any signs that would let Melanie know you aren’t as convinced as you pretend to be?

People are always gonna draw comparisons, Cass! I mean, they put you girls against each other in polls for like, a hecka long time, and that’s just from one person to another - now that couples are cropping up, it’s compare-o-city all over again! People don’t care what it does to the self-esteem, they just keep doing it! I could approach him more maturely, maybe...but asking Harry for advice is probably more solid, I guess. Not like he has a girlfriend, like I do, but he could, I bet. You don’t have to try to help, Cassie, it’s impossible anyway, this is just my life now and I gotta live with it! Pranks and stuff will help, I’ve been neglecting my Lost Boys, I’vejust got to reallocate my intersets is all! And...no, no, I’m mad, but I’m gonna try not to be, not anymore. I bet Madison sort of feels it? It’s different with siblings but sharing isn’t the most fun. If she’s refocusing more on other actiivties or people than she usually does is a good sign? Or if she avoids the topic of you-and-Mason at all costs, or tries not to hang with you guys even if she’s invited. I don’t know, I’m a little weird. I keep breaking and getting mad at Melanie for a few seconds and then taking it back. Beast, I wonder how long of that I have until she gest sick of me for good.

Yeah? Why not? They’re way more comfortable than those other boob cages they make for us.  People who are trying to show off their rack would never wear one, but I don’t want people staring down there anyway. Dressing up isn’t really my thing — if I could go in my tourney uniform and just eat good food and chill, I’d be so there, but the dress is a dealbreaker. Or like, needs a lot to balance it out, I guess. That’s mighty big talk, you better be ready to actually back that up, munchkin.

Boob cages! They should actually rename bras that, it sounds way more metal! I feel like if I was a super competitve sports girl I’d want people to stare at my rack - it would make it easier to distract the other team and make it easier to win! You could wear sweats to prom! Who would stop you, the prom police? Oh, I live for big talk. I made it on the tourney team, didn’t I? I’m Trevor, I can do anything, and the Lost Boys are ACHING to pull something epic, and so we shall. I’ll make sure you dont’get caught in the cross fire.

I love you just the way you are, but I’d love you any way you are! But I hope I’d still be able to recognize the old Trevor in there, too, even if you changed a teeny tiny little bit. Being an adult’s not boring; mom says growing up is exciting and different and she’s been teaching me how to sew for when I’m your wife and you rip your clothes and you want me to fix them, and things like that! He’s not just any guy, he’s Earl and we like him. Stella has her own brain, she can decide if she likes him or not but what’s so bad about trying? We could be introducing soulmates!

Why? It’s not like you really care about whether or not I recognize enough of the old Melanie in whatever it is you’re going through; if you get to change a lot, I do too, that’s just fair! And couplehood is all about fair and balance, right? Is sewing exciting and different? Because it just kind of sounds like a lot of sitting. You know I’m not crazy about my dad, but if there’s one thing he got right, it’s that he’s rarely ever just sitting, he’s always got something to do. Mel, I love you, but our matchmaking didn’t work when we tried with your brother, I doubt it’s going to work with #stellarl or whatever they’d be. We can all have a hang out if you want, but don’t expect anything.

Glitter’s so hard to get off, bro. I walked in on one of Zoe and Gwen’s art projects as a kid and I got the brunt of it and I found it in my bed for like three weeks afterward. Well, suit yourself, but if you don’t think girls are fun you probably haven’t done certain things with them. Or met ones like Gwen and Amelia and Flora and Maya. You should just watch it before prom happens, it explains a lot about guy culture. Okay, but I get to make fun of you next year when you’re all dumb about going with Melanie, deal?

First of all, good on Zoe and Gwen for recognizing the brilliance of glitter. Second, it’s GLITTER! Why would it matter if it’s hard to get off, it’s beautiful! I think Melanie’s fun, for the most part, and Gracie’s okay; otherwise, let’s just say a gang called the Lost Girls would never make it as long as the Lost Boys have without running out of stuff to do. American Pie’s added to the list, then, but I don’t watch movies that often so I’ll get to it when I get to it. Suuuure, that’s gonna happen.

Is that a real song? I’ve never heard that before. Maybe for some people hanging out with girls is fun, did you ever think about that? I mean, dancing’s better if you’ve got somebody to dance with, and a lot of people have fun after the dance, too, for being good dates. Haven’t you ever seen American Pie? Thanks for sparing people at the dance, but it kinda is starting to sound like you’re only doing that because you can’t get in. I don’t know, I’m not dating anybody yet. Maybe I’ll see if any of my friends need or want a date with a couple of weeks left and then change my mind then, but I don’t have some epic romantic plans or anything. Just gonna chill with friends, you know?

Nope! The song I was singing was just about rain, I added the glitter part myself, but it makes it more fun, I think. Some people think girls are fun? That’s so sad, I didn’t know people were so misguided. Other than Melanie, girls are all kind of the same and keep you from having fun more often than not, dances or no dances.....and no, I haven’t seen American Pie, why? I don’t care about getting in, I don’t have to worry about that till I’m way older, it’s just silly how much people care about this instead of anything important, you know? Have fun chilling. It’s better than what everyone else is doing.

Of course new friends don’t mean new personality, I’m so glad you know that! Yaaaay, it’s so nice to be on the same page again about stuff – mostly. But prom’s so exciting, I just really hope you and your friends don’t mess up promposals for anyone that they’re really important to or anything. That’s why we need to do it again this week and next week and every week, so we don’t forget about how much fun it was ever. Right… Booking times, I guess I deserve that. Wait, really? Oh my gosh, why don’t we want them to talk to each other? We could set them up and finally have people that want to go on double dates with us all the time, wouldn’t that be awesome? 

Ha, yeah, imagine how weird that would be, if I got myself a new best friend and suddenly became a whole new person - that would suck, wouldn’t it? Thank Beast that’s not happening to me. Relax, honey, I’m not going to like blow anyone’s head off - they’ll all still be fine enough to go to the dance and do whatever boring almost-adult’s even do. Maybe, if I get a good pre or post party offer and there’s no good tourney games on TV that night. What are you going to do while you’re busy being somewhere better than prom?

You’re allowed to wear sports bras when you aren’t playing sports??? Wow, I know nothing about girls, I thought that was like a hard and fast rule! Finally, though, someone who wants to TP who can throw farther than ten feet! This is gonna be lit. I like the way you think, though; prom is a pretty okay back-up plan but why would you plan to spend way too long standing around with people that are way too dressed up and feeling awkward? I don’t know if Mason has anything planned, actually; I would never take it for granted that he’s going to put on a big show or even want to go to prom at all, actually. I hope he wants to, though, but I suppose that’s a conversation to be had between the two of us. We’ve been taking things ‘one step at a time’, I think is how they’d describe it. Were they? Well, good, I’m sure they’ll get a good laugh about that! Really? I want to take your word for it, but well, I still can’t help but be a little bit concerned. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed Stella’s company, though. You didn’t feel as though she was actually trying to steal Melanie from you when you were all together, did you? It felt like she filled a different role in her life than you did, the same way Madison is more important to Mason than I am even though I know we’re very different in how we fit into his life?

Sounds more like one baby step at a time if you ask me! Nothing wrong with that, though - I actually kind of dig it, people were real jerkfaces to me and Melanie for “going too slow”, so having you guys really makes it better in comparison. If you want him to ask, I could make him! I’ll follow him around and throw paper balls at him until he pays attention! Oh, Cassie, of course I didn’t enjoy Stella’s company! She’s horrible! She’s...cool and fun and way too interesting and Melanie just eats it up like bread to a duck! I felt way too much like we were...competing! And worse, I was losing! But I’ll lose Melanie completely if I act like it bothers me as much as it does, so I’m doing this instead. I wish it was like how you felt with Madison and Mason instead of how it feels right now.

Oh, um, that’s a very aggressive standpoint to take on things, don’t you think? Prom’s a very happy time for a lot of people; I don’t want you to end up doing something you regret by ruining it for your friends and teammates. Perhaps you can pick out people you know have a good sense of humor about these sorts of things? Like Gwen and Amelia, or Will and Blake? Are you all right? I’m quite concerned about you, Trevor. Is the presence of the villain still aversely affecting your relationship with Melanie? Is that why you’re so upset about prom and proposals, two things which are romantic landmarks I would have expected you to be more excited about?

You say aggressive, I say fun! Don’t worry, Cass, I wouldn’t hit you with anything bad, not even if Mason saps out on you in front of the whole school. You’re on my good list. Gwen and Amelia and Will and Blake were already set to be bombed, how did you know?! Cass, Cass, you worry too much. I’m fine, fine fine fine fine! Why wouldn’t I be? I even hung out with Stellanie lately and guess what? Stella is cool, just as cool as Melanie said she’d be. Cooler, even, cooler than most people I’ve ever met and more fun than me and it’s fine because I spend more time on tourneying and Lost Boying anyway so I’m just glad Melanie’s time is filled with someone so much better than me! It’s GREAT!
