Thomas rolls his eyes “I’m not a drunk little brother I just enjoy a good drink there is a difference, besides, no matter what I do, the eyes will always be on you. Perks of not talking to Lily and Ryan anymore” he winks, taking a sip of his drink “besides you wouldn’t know what to do with yourself if you weren’t the center of attention. Though Allison, is a problem sometimes.”

Chris chuckled nodding his head. “Oh yeah, there’s a big difference between liking a drink and being a drunk and there’s also a big difference between knowing which one you fall under and denial.” Narrowing his eyes for a moment he sighed knowing that was true, Lily and Ryan would never get off his back, which he was silently thankful for. “Center of attention? When is that? I definitely don’t have that title.”

“So maybe some witch action could be just what you need, buddy.” Damien said and stood up from his stool. He looked up around the room. “So where is this guy? Just give me and idea of what to do with him. He’ll never know what hit him. What are friends for, Chris? The witch continues. Chris really was the first true friend he’d had since the accident. Would he ever tell, Chris? Probably not.

“Settle down eager beaver.” Chris chuckled shaking his head. “The guy isn’t here and if he was I probably would’ve gotten in his face already. Plus i’m not looking to jump the gun just yet. I was just seeing if you’d be willing to lend a helping hand if the time came around. Good to know you would.”

“Well I’m certainly not going to get changed if I don’t get any details… What are we doing, Chris?” she asked, getting up, staring at him with her arms crossed as he sat on the couch. “You should have known I was going to question you.”

“I did. I was just hoping you wouldn’t.” He sighed looking her up and down as he thought of what to say. “I just want to try this new hike out, that’s all.” He lied with a tight smile. “Happy? Will you just go get ready.”

“I understand that pushing away people is a knack of yours, but I don’t understand why you feel  compelled to do it. You’ve had a great family growing up. Surrounded by love. What happened?”

Chris’ eyes were glued in front of him as if there was something to actually focus on while he listened to her. Really, he was stumped on how to respond to her after that. “Nothing.” He breathed out raising his shoulders. “I’m just all kinds of screwed up and no amount of love or support will change that. Simple truth.”

But, because of your typical asshole self… You ruined the moment.” She sighed. “You know what? Fine, don’t talk to me, and continue being an ass. See where that gets you in the next couple of years.”

“Oh that was you trying to have a moment with me?” He almost laughed but stopped himself noticing that he had already upset or angered her enough. “I wasn’t the one that started the conversation.” He commented shrugging his shoulders. “You realize I know what I’m doing right? I know I push people away, that’s the point.”

“Is that a trick question?” he asks, pouring them both a drinks “if I say yes, I’ve got a problem. If I say no I’m in denial.” He laughs shaking his head walking back in and placing both drinks on the coffee table. “I’m not in the mood for a therapy session brother, I thought if anyone would get that it would be you” he says, sitting down and grabbing one of the glasses taking a sip.

“Nope just a question.” He responded shaking his head once, starting to laugh a little. “What you think ima give you a fucking therapy session on how you should get your act together?” He laughed even more reaching for his drink taking a sip of it. “Look if you want to be a drunk then go ahead and be a drunk. Maybe then some attention will be pulled off of me.”

“Jesus Chris lighten up you don’t have to leave” he says, walking into the kitchen “want a drink?” he offers from the other room. Him and Chris weren’t close, but having the other in the house didn’t repulse or whatever the younger was thinking. “I mean this is still your house too dude.”

“Right.” Chris mumbled to himself trying not to think of how homesick he use to be even if he never told all of them once he was sent away. “Yeah I’ll have a drink.” Chris called out making himself more comfortable on the couch. “Should you be having one though? That’s the real question.”

“I just don’t understand why you act like you hate life.” Erin replied with a look of confusion. Chris had always been somewhat of a mystery to her. She hoped that he would open up to her more one day, but it seemed that it would never happen. “You have everything going for you. Including a family that cares about you, but you only push us away. Why won’t you let anyone in, Chris?”

“Sorry, I didn’t realize I asked you to be a therapist for me.” He looked at her with a confused expression that was quickly wipe away for a blank one. “I don’t hate life. I actually enjoy it, it’s not my fault you guys just don’t like the way that I live and that I’m not all about family.”

“Yes, I deserve to fucking know.” She raged, her hands balled up into fists. Breathing out, Jenny tried to remain calm and not draw too much attention to them. Though, it wasn’t un-ordinary in the small town. “Don’t give me that crap. You know damn well if the roles were switched you would have reacted the same way and possibly even attempted to kill the guy.” The vampire pointed out, “It does matter. It matters to me.”

Chris stood there silently for what felt like forever trying to figure out what to say to her in his head. He was prone to saying and doing the wrong things all the time but this wasn’t something he wanted to screw up. Well, even more than he already had. “I hurt her the night when everything went crazy and she hurt me, she was bloody and since she’s a friend I let her clean up and let her borrow some clothes. I just let you think that something happened because I tried to kill you and I didn’t want that to ever happen again. And I-- I don’t usually care if I’m enough for other people but I know i’m not good enough for you, I’d screw it up sooner or later so I just sped up the timeline and I let you think that I cheated.”

Approaching her cousin slowly, Erin could only shake her head from side to side slowly. It would seem that Chris hasn’t changed. Typical. “It’s really rude to not even say hi to family, Chris. Keep this up and people are going to question whether or not you actually have manners.”

Looking over at Erin, Chris crossed his arms over his chest resisting the urge to straight up walk away right then and there. “Shouldn’t take it so personally, Erin, I hardly make an effort with my own brothers and sisters.” He responded looking away from her. “Well then it’s a good thing I don’t have manners and that I really don’t give a shit what people think of it. Might be a foreign concept to you but not everyone looks for the approval of everyone else.”

“For someone who no longer lives here your sure around a lot” Thomas says as he walks through the door to find Chris sitting on the coach. He dumps his stuff on the table in the hallway. It had been a week since Chris and Thomas had last seen each other, not that Thomas was complaining, the quite was blissful. “I mean don’t you have an apartment to yourself?” @troublesomechris

Closing his eyes for a moment when he heard his brothers voice he took a deep breath before opening back up to look at him. “I just needed something.” He mumbled forcing a small smile to appear on his features. “And no one was home so I thought I would kill some time but since you’re here I’ll just go.”

“Why?” Jenny questioned, shaking her head. She kept her gaze on the ground, avoiding his. The vampire couldn’t wrap her head around the possible reasons he had. “Why would you make up some fucking lie to end us? Honestly, I don’t know if to feel better or worse.” She admitted, feeling the rage arise within her. Jenny couldn’t lie, she was relieved as hell to know that she hadn’t been cheated on. “No, I can’t get back to my sorry excuse of a date! Not until I know what the hell your damn mind was thinking. I deserve to know so speak up.” The girl demanded, pushing him backward with a hand.

“You deserve to know?” He questioned not bothering to stop her when she pushed him back. He should’ve known he wasn’t going to get away easily even though a part of him actually didn’t want to. Still, he didn’t know how to conversation would end and he didn’t need another reason to blow up more than he already had been. “What about I deserved the benefit of the fucking doubt. You assumed something and sure I was the asshole that let you continue thinking it because...” He sighed in frustration. “It doesn’t matter.”
